Where to begin? Let's see...his crappy stats are so bad that Nino has the same speed as him, higher luck, and almost the same resistance when she joins as a level 5 Mage, a level 4 Lowen as a Paldin is better all around than a level 20 Marcus, Marcus has horrible stats, he hogs EXP, everyone gets better than him quickly, he screws goats, he does ( Read more... )

... *eyetwitch* There's a simple solution for Marcus hogging exp: DON'T USE HIM. Or just give him an Iron Sword and use him as a bait or rescue unit. <3

I also wonder why is it so bad for Marcus to like Merlinus in any way, damn. :P

Methinks the FAQ writer made that mistake as a n00b and is bitter ever since.

Because they're not OMG BISHIEEES and old guys making out is soooo gross. *epic eyeroll in the direction of fanbrats*

Woluldn't be surprised, since practically all the FE7 *and* FE6 FAQ's have pot shots thrown at Marcus. I's a sort of pre-requisite for writing them, or something.

I hate FAQs that can't give evaluations of characters without stuffing them full of personal bias. This same guy also practically masturbates to Priscilla and Nino and Hector (who ARE awesome, but still)...AND uses Priscilla as a means of bashing Serra!

I tend to automatically discard any FAQ that bashes Jeigans for being Jeigans. Whut. And Marcus is a cool character, anyway. D: FE has plenty of awesome characters who aren't so hot in battle, and anyway, Marcus is damn useful as a meatshield earlier on.

You want to know how much credibility the FAQs have?

Oswin has B-Ranked Physical Defense growth like Physical Defense is multiplied by a fraction in its role in the damage formula, or weakness weapons like Armor Killers or Piercing Spears WEREN'T RAPED IN USABILITY.

That's how much credibility the FAQs have.

That said, Marcus does have above average Magic Defense growth. Same with Wallace, since we're on the subject. They both have the same growth as FLORINA. *sigh* I'm not sure if that entirely saves them, especially considering they're in the same game as the oh-so-broken Oswin (don't tell me Oswin isn't broken, with OR without the the illegal Super Surendo Spear), but it can help allow them to work in the late game without raping it like they do the early game.

You'd think an FAQ would factor in the use of super-effective weapons like that.

...but. How is Oswin broken? He's a hell of a good unit, sure, but he's still weak against mages and rigged arena fights with fast silver-weapon using enemies.

Yeah. Unfortunately, super-effectiveness was nerfed with the multiplier being a measly 2. How the freak can somebody say Elwood is better off with the Dragon Killer (I refuse to call it the "Wyrm Slayer", it sounds like it kills off worms) than the Durandal when against the Dragon is beyond me, and I know the Durandal has the weight of an anvil so don't bother with that detail. (At least he dies sooner if you use the Durandal. If he has fight the Dragon without additional attackers and use the Dragon Killer for some reason, he's just screwed, period ( ... )
