Where to begin? Let's see...his crappy stats are so bad that Nino has the same speed as him, higher luck, and almost the same resistance when she joins as a level 5 Mage, a level 4 Lowen as a Paldin is better all around than a level 20 Marcus, Marcus has horrible stats, he hogs EXP, everyone gets better than him quickly, he screws goats, he does ( Read more... )

male characters, bashers suck, crying "not badass = useless", crying "not bishie enough", stats =/= character, fire emblem

Yeah. Unfortunately, super-effectiveness was nerfed with the multiplier being a measly 2. How the freak can somebody say Elwood is better off with the Dragon Killer (I refuse to call it the "Wyrm Slayer", it sounds like it kills off worms) than the Durandal when against the Dragon is beyond me, and I know the Durandal has the weight of an anvil so don't bother with that detail. (At least he dies sooner if you use the Durandal. If he has fight the Dragon without additional attackers and use the Dragon Killer for some reason, he's just screwed, period.)

(Using info from Pegasusknight.com)

Oswin's standard Physical Defense boost at L20+20:
(55 / 100) * (11 + 19) = 11 * 30 / 20 = 330 / 20 = 33/2 = 17 1/2

He starts with 13 Physical Defense. Even without the promotion boost, which I'm not checking for, he still maxes the stat. Tack on the ridiculous HP as well (28 starting, 90% growth, that means guaranteed 59 because of the promotion boost of 4) and he can certainly be problematic to kill, and meanwhile he can use almost whatever lance or axe he likes without concern for weight.

Oswin has Magic Defense growth at 30% too. It's not entirely like Wallace's, but it beats or matches plenty of non-mage characters.

....okay, so his starting Magic Defense still stinks. But I still doubt he could be considered anywhere below high tier. He certainly deserves mobility problems and vulnerability to Wands like the Berserk Wand, that's for sure. Link Arena where mobility and wands are out of play (although that's a stupid concept in the first place, but we didn't make the game), he's a downright monster who can be supported with a mage killer character or two for the sole purpose of getting rid of the enemy mages.
