Expulsion

The offending article hit the poolhouse above the door and disappeared behind where it stood ajar. She stared, unseeing, as angry tears welled in her stinging eyes. Letting them come, unchecked, she removed the remainder of her clothing and eased herself into the warm water, contemplating absently how long angel parlour tricks lasted.

It was so ( Read more... )

Uh oh -- the poolhouse is open.

I got the same sense from the few lines she and her parents had together. Mom was bewildered, sad that Audrey wasn't her sweet little girl anymore who believed everything Mommy said. There was a strange demarcation between grade school and junior high for me, too, when my mom started understanding me less and my dad became a good friend. It evened out eventually, but I remember painfully how lost my mother felt with me sometimes.

It's funny, we know so little about Audrey in the movie. She's kind of a caricature with a couple touching moments. It's so nice to see her fleshed out.

I don't think my mum and I ever grew out of that phase. I guess because I kind of got stuck in a time warp with going into hospital and everything. Maybe that's what made it so difficult and frustrating. That's around the time when girls start getting closer to their mothers again, and the only quality time we got to spend together involved me bent over a toilet and her with tissues and water at the ready.

You know, when I was watching the movie I hardly even registered Audrey. Every time she came on the screen I was like, who the-- oh yeah, I remember her. It's proving pretty fun.. like colouring in something someone else has drawn. Not quite so tedious but still challenging. :)

Which reminds me, I've been working on a sketch, all. damn. day. Of Gabriel and Audrey, I mean. It was driving me crazy for the longest time because I just could not get their faces, but now I've done hers and I'm best part through his, so I'd imagine I might actually, possibly, get it drawn out before bed tonight! I'd like your opinion on whether I should ( ... )

Of COURSE, are you kidding? :D I cannot wait to see it! Oh my God, I was hoping you'd draw them! And I know, his face especially is really hard to pin. I'm so excited ( ... )

I totally know what you mean. When I was at uni, living in Leicester before, Mum and I got on so much easier. There was still the occasional phonecall where one of the other of us would just hang up, lol, but generally our relationship was a lot less rocky. I'm looking forward to having that again. It'll make spending time together more special and therefore more enjoyable, instead of being in each other's faces all the time.

I still don't know that I've really got their faces properly, but for someone who hasn't picked up a pencil in like, jeez, two years or more? I think I've gotten fairly close. Though I kind of feel like the two of them have ended up in different kind of styles which is a little weird..
