IV. Video/Action for Route 34 + Text

Video/Action:

[The video feed doesn't show Gorthan anywhere, but those are some pretty good shots of the sea from the beach on Route 34. It appears that the scientist is using the cam to film his newly evolved Gallade as the Pokémon uses his Confusion attack to levitate poor, defenseless Tentacool out of the water, sometimes two or three at a time ( Read more... )

I found the disc at the Department Store in Goldenrod. Oddly enough it was stocked with a bunch of rocks.

As to the book, I have been reading it in my spare time. Machiavelli had some interesting ideas to say the least. I disagree with some of it, but they are still interesting nonetheless.

[It's exchanges like this one that make Gorthan realize that texting with the Commander is infinitely better than speaking to him!]

Ah, then it must have been in the same section where I found the Dawn Stone to evolve my Kirlia into Gallade.

I had no doubt you would find them interesting. Certainly, he cites many examples from the politics of his time, but I am sure that somebody like you can easily think of analogous situations in the politics of the day and age of your world of origin.

[Exactly how much does the Commander know about politics anyway, Gorthan wonders?]

Probably. Who would stock computer discs next to rocks though? That doesn't make any sense.

And yes, I have noticed some similarities. You'd have to be blind to miss them.

Where in Johto are you presently, Commander?

[It's a pretty damn beautiful display anyway, but that's beside the point.]

While I can't say that I know what you expected in regards to that review, consider the rest noted and appreciated.

Don't you have anything to say about my presents to you yet?

In good time, Gorthan, in good time - allow me to read the things first.

Though for what it's worth, I do appreciate the gesture.

[But they are the most interesting things, and really not that long, how have you not read them yet ;A; ]

You're welcome, Red Lotus.

Where are you presently, if I may ask? Still in Goldenrod?

[Well, well! It seems Gorthan's having fun today! Archer responds to the video with the usual smirk; he's in one of the sparsely-decorated Team Rocket base's rooms, though beside his elbow is a familiar book. He's been enjoying his gift, Gorthan!]

Hello, Gorthan. Thank you very much for the book. It's fascinating.

[That's possibly the greatest understatement of the year. ...Well, obviously, the year has just begun!]

I do apologize for the delay, but I have something for you as well. Lucena should be bringing it by shortly; do ensure that she returns to me safely.

[Sure enough, his Honchkrow will be stopping by at some point with a gift for you! It's an egg, containing one of Lucena's offspring! Details on your present can be found here.]

[Now then, onto more important issues.]

What sort of creature is that?

[Gorthan appears on the video screen, with Gallade standing behind him and holding the egg.]

I am glad I was apparently able to select a work you would enjoy. Thank you for your presents as well. I am assuming that the egg is Lucena's own...? If so, my gratitude to you is even greater. I have been wanting to explore what exactly it is that makes the Dark type completely immune to the effect of psychic powers. This will be the perfect opportunity.

As for my Pokémon, which I believe you can see more clearly now, it is none less than the Ralts you have met, evolved first into Kirlia and then into Gallade, a Fighting and Psychic type.

[His expression suddenly hardens, his eyes narrowing.]

I also have a... rather pressing question to ask of you. I am aware that it might seem trivial, but it is actually of considerable importance, for a variety of reasons.

Indeed. Evidently birds can mate with bats here.

[He actually sounds more amused than anything else by this; it's much easier to find it hilarious than to find it brain-breaking. He's already had his mind shattered enough times, thanks Johto.]

It certainly is a unique asset; the Flying-type will help against Fighting-types as well.

[Archer nods at the Pokémon - it certainly does look powerful.]

Is it still - how did you put it - "reading" you? I've obtained a Psychic-type as well and it used to do the same thing prior to its evolution.

[Then again, it might still be doing it. It's an Alakazam now and it's probably less obvious about that sort of thing. Or maybe it just considers him too dumb to bother reading. Either way.]

Indeed? Very well, I'll do my best to answer it.

A question - it needs a Stone to evolve, correct?

Ah, evolution and bonding with me have made Gallade more obedient. But that tendency of his still lingers sometimes, though I have learned to make the most of it, as opposed to seeing it as a hindrance.

[He's been needing a meter to judge the progression of his mutation (i.e. of his emotions) by, and Gallade is very apt for that role.]

As for my question, I'm afraid it needs a small premise. Namely, I need to know about your experience with individuals of the... attractive female persuasion.
