But there are some who don't burn if they get wet.

And they're the ones who know which ways the sewers go.

Two of them, in fact, are out playing in the water -- a pair of puppies, standing out with a faint red glow.

Acid proof glowing puppies. Well, then. That gets a look, and a dimming of a flashlight. After all, they GLOW. How hard can it be to see them in the dark. But he curses the thick scent that keeps him from using his own senses to figure out where they came from -- which direction they might've come down...

Probably useless. But he clicks his fingers after a moment, and then approaches. No food, but he does crouch a little, extending one pale hand. "Hey. Funny little rutters, aren't you? Come give Harth a hello. I won't hurt you."

And he won't. What would it get him, after all? He could use them more alive.

They glow even better in darkness, in fact -- it's plain old ultraviolet light that these guys give off.

The tallest one sniffs his hand curiously, and tilts her head.

You are not alive, she points out.

... telepathic dogs. AWESOME. Harth beams like a kid in a candy shop with five bucks to spend on the penny jars.

"I'm not,"he confirms. "But I keep moving. I'm special. You look pretty special to me. Who are you?"
