A late review because I wanted to take the time to really sit down and concentrate on every line. I must say, I am thoroughly in love with this story. The scenes between Jack and Harry are so intense. I feel every word and see every gesture. The wit, the dialogue-- whenever I dream of romance, I think of Jack and Harry. Bravo!

What a great way to start the morning, receiving such a glowing review! Reviews are, of course, never late, and I'm thrilled that you thought this worth taking extra time to read, and so happy you enjoyed it.

What a truly wonderful compliment. 'Thank you so much' is quite inadequate.

Jack sighed, and retorted, “So my entreaties for mercy fall on beautiful but deaf ears?”
“Oh, sí. Quite deaf. Tell me.”
How like Harry, unafraid and determined.

“Trust me a little longer, then, Querida. Let me show you something of what may lie between a man and a maid.”
So sweet and beautiful, such a lovely first kiss. *sigh*

I'm glad I was able to convey the impression that Juana and Harry are alike in certain ways. And so happy you liked the kiss. ;) Thanks for reading and leaving all these wonderful comments--you've made my day, and it's only 6 A.M.!

Found this and read it, now! I'm so glad you took the time to tell us of Juana's history with Jack - very delightful, no wonder they have such fond memories of each other! I'm seeing why you speak so highly of the character of Tobias... do you know where I can find Picaresque now? Unless I'm missing something, all I can find on Tessabeth's page now is some (very, very delightful) J/W smut ( ... )

How lovely to get more lengthy comments from you! I am getting completely spoiled.

So happy you enjoyed this story. It was a fun one to write, and came out well, I thought, giving exactly the information I needed it to give. Thanks for the compliment about the opening of it -- I have fun trying to keep the love scenes at a PG-13 level, in consideration of the parameters of Black Pearl Sails (non-slash, limit of soft-R), and because quite a few of my relatives read my stories. Wouldn't want to offend their tender sensibilities. *G*

Captain Tobias is a truly superb character, and tessabeth is so kind to let me use him in my stories. Her Picaresque is the story in which he first appears -- it and it's sequels (Trochal and Malabar Trade are some of the best PotC stories in existence -- even worth cultivating a taste for slash to read. I am thrilled you found her Jack/Will stories on her journal (she only recently posted them there, finally!!) -- I don't like that pairing as a rule, but she has the talent to make me believe and enjoy. But the ( ... )

You are absolutely lovely for always taking the time to hunt up these stories for me! I truly appreciate it. As for spoiling you, I think not, you've given me many hours of enjoyment and now are sending me places where I can find many more hours of enjoyment - that's more than worth my few minutes spent giving some feedback ( ... )

my taste for slash is well-cultivated...my family would be so shocked! LOL)

It is a strange phenomenon, to the uninitiated. I was floored when I first found out, as I think I told you. But the first slash I read was firesignwriter's work -- Jjail (which is hilarious), and the Moonverse (which is heartbreaking. Both are Sparrington, and are frequently cited as being among the best, if not the best. They got me hooked rather thoroughly. The writing has to be top notch for me to enjoy slash, but many of the best writers in the fandom write nothing else, so there you go.

I can read others' work and still write my own versions of the characters. I know not everyone works that way, though. But yeah, maybe my versions are effected by my reading of others' versions. Hard not to pick up little details from your reading, especially if the story/writing is good ( ... )
