You are absolutely lovely for always taking the time to hunt up these stories for me! I truly appreciate it. As for spoiling you, I think not, you've given me many hours of enjoyment and now are sending me places where I can find many more hours of enjoyment - that's more than worth my few minutes spent giving some feedback!

And though I've been trying to stay away from it of late, my taste for slash is well-cultivated (and I admit this fandom is well-suited for it) and I'm sure I'll have no problem enjoying all of Tess's work. :-) (oh, my family would be so shocked! LOL)

The danger of having so many lovely stories to read is it takes my mind off of writing... it affects me in two ways, 1) I spend all my time reading instead of writing (it's so much easier!!), and 2) I start having other authors' versions of characters in my head instead of the authentic ones, and I like to keep my characterization as authentic as possible. Do you find these things affect you much?

But, tonight I intend to go see DMC again and hopefully come home and finish up a short I'm working on... could I trouble you for some feedback when it's done?

It is a strange phenomenon, to the uninitiated. I was floored when I first found out, as I think I told you. But the first slash I read was firesignwriter's work -- Jjail (which is hilarious), and the Moonverse (which is heartbreaking. Both are Sparrington, and are frequently cited as being among the best, if not the best. They got me hooked rather thoroughly. The writing has to be top notch for me to enjoy slash, but many of the best writers in the fandom write nothing else, so there you go.

I can read others' work and still write my own versions of the characters. I know not everyone works that way, though. But yeah, maybe my versions are effected by my reading of others' versions. Hard not to pick up little details from your reading, especially if the story/writing is good.

I envy you going to see DMC again. I just might catch a matinee on Monday -- I'm taking the day off, so I could do that easily. We'll see. Or I might go in the early evening next week, when the bargain matinee prices are still going.

I'm very much looking forward to reading some of your work. Are you going to post here at LJ? You might consider joining Black Pearl Sails, too -- that's the most active Yahoo group devoted to PotC fanfic writing (but it's a non-slash, soft R limit, so that's a consideration).

Let me know when I can take a peek at your story! (geekmama@gmail.com)
