I love mail packages!

I just got my first two official Quinrose anthologies in the mail yesterday. The two that I got are called 'Live and let live', and 'Expectation is better than realization'. In my little note book, they were the top two anthologies on my list. They were both really good, and one of my favorite Quinrose artists did a story in each of them. If you ( Read more... )

Twins. Handcuffs. Alice.

WANT.

I would like Yobu better if I understood her stories. Sadly, I can only go by her art. Doujins have to have some sort of appealing visual element to them for me or else I have difficulty getting in them since I don't know any Japanese. It's sad. I'm probably missing a lot of great stories, but there is no way to get translations from manga even rudimentary Atlas-level translations.

The Twins with the handcuffs story was in 'Expectation is better than realization'. I ordered my books through Yamato-Touch so they added them to their stock. Here's a link to the page with them. http://www.yamato-touch.com/index.php?cPath=593_660_662&osCsid=554b87f650777d0efa464ac0553c10f7 They are more expensive than the official doujins though. It might be cheaper to try and get them used through the Rakuten shop. I can't say for sure, since I don't know how the shipping might affect the cost ( ... )

Thanks! I've never heard of Edict before. It should be a lot easier than my usual method of translating them (which gets about a word an hour done).

Also, thanks for the link to Yamato-touch. I have my eye on the Julius Quinrose doujin but after I get that I'll probably grab me some sweet twins-on-handcuffs-on-Alice action. XD

You're welcome~

Edict is also good for looking up words that aren't in the Atlas definitions. There are a few words in the Alice games that don't have Atlas definitions, but if you use the Edict dictionary function, you can find out what the word means and add it to Atlas. I don't have to use that option often, but it comes in handy sometimes. And I don't know how it is for you, but I couldn't stand watching Blood's name be translated to 'Brad' so I changed it to the way it should be(there were other messed up name translations too, but I can't remember all of them). The wrong names were a mood killer for me.

I may be biased but, the Julius doujin was one of the best! You'll love it. For some reason I always rank him in the ero category with Blood, Ace, and Boris. He randomly pounces Alice and can talk just as dirty as any of those other guys(I assume that's a side effect from fighting to keep his virginity forever. lol).

Ah whee~ Mail is always fun when you get presents. I've seen the anthologies on Quinrose's site before. Nice as the doujinshi are, the idea of multi-character books does sound appealing. I'm guessing they were worth the purchase if you're pleased with them then?

You got the new Nightmare/Joker no Kuni book as well? Lucky dog. Mine's been stuck in shipping limbo. Yobu does set them up like singular books, but eee~ I'm all curious now to see what happens.

Would you say that the Elliot one worked well with the cuteness? Or did it tweak with his character too much?

Yes! The anthologies were worth the money. I can't speak for all of them, but the one's I got were very good. They are the same size and thickness as the Clover doujins. A couple stories from them had been used for short stories at the end of some of the official doujinshi though. I didn't like how Quinrose just recycled them. But the stories that got reused were such a small portion of the books that it didn't make me regret anything. There were still a ton of other stories that I've never seen before. Plus I got to see more Nightmare stories with lovely art! For me, that makes these books quite valuable. It's hard to find doujinshi with him, or even official works. I'll probably buy a couple more anthologies whenever I get the chance ( ... )

Considering that I only have the Nightmare and Bloody Twins books a wee bit of recycling doesn't sound too bad. Gotta take your fandom where you can find it in these tiny series. Where did you get the anthologies off of? YesAsia? Quinrose's site? (Not that I have money to buy anything at the moment... but just for future reference ( ... )

Very true. I'm still longing for the cell phone straps, note paper, figurines(of any kind), and goodness knows what else to come from Quinrose. I love their doujinshi and anthologies, and drama CDs, but I'm greedy and I want more. I got the anthologies through Yamato-Touch. It was a special request, but they added it to their stock after I requested it. So if you are interested they've got those two books up for sale on their site hereAh yes, the colored circus intro was wonderful. I started geeking out when I saw Joker in color at the circus. Admittedly I've grown more accustomed to Yobu/Job's(not sure about the correct romanization) style too. Her writing always seems to require a dictionary. Fujimaru is much easier to understand for me. I don't mind looking words up though. Eventually I will learn them ^-^. Lol, the inside cover panels were priceless. The ideas are so random and fun. For some reason I could completely see Black being the responsible one who takes care of the both of them. Of course the game gives me that sort of ( ... )

Leaving my rabbit hole to squee about you getting packages and, especially, the Job books. The art isn't the best, but there's definitely some jems inside that makes it worth it. It doesn't hurt that the story's written well, imo~

i'm not sure if you're talking about both 夜明け前にみる夢 and 真昼にみる夢, but if there were more books after that, I'd be quite happy to shell out money for them. ;__; It's so nice, seeing the darker side of Nightmare.

Is Job the way the katakana translates? I wasn't sure what to do with that name. I'd seen it written as Job before, but I've seen other variations as well. Anyway, I agree with you on the well written stories. Something I've thoroughly enjoyed about Job's writing is that she has the characters doing things that you never get to see in the games. Not many other people do that. Most of the other doujinshi I've seen take elements from CG events in the games and base their work off of that. Job is quite a bold writer in that she makes things up almost completely. I'm not sure if what I said was understandable, but I hope my meaning got across. It was hard to find words to phrase my thoughts ( ... )

I've been tempted to get some more anthologies...would you recommend those? ovo; Having to wait so long for Omochabako has made me want to get other media to drool over in the meanwhile. *sigh*

The JnKnA Nightmare doujinshi are wonderful. I do wish they had gotten another artist to work on them, but all things considered she's gotten a -lot- better than she was back when she did the Gray doujinshi. At least Quinrose is finally giving Joker some attention. If they do end up doing something more with it I will be a happy fangirl, especially if they have more Black. Just the little bits he had throughout the second doujinshi were just enough to keep me satisfied hahaha! Though it would be that much better if they did a Joker doujinshi.... I do have to agree about the Elliot doujinshi...he was a bit too cute at times. However, I personally cannot bring myself to hate the artist for that, since she's one of my favorite YuGiOh fanartists from way-back-when. ;;

Oh yes, I definitely recommend these anthologies. There were so many good artists and stories in them. I don't think you would be disappointed if you bought them. My only beef about the anthologies in general is that Quinrose hasn't released any based off of Joker no kuni yet. I'm feeling severely Joker deprived.

From what you've said I'm guessing you favor Black Joker. I will say just one thing about that. AWESOME~
Okay I lied, I've got more to say about it. It's nice to see that White's silver tongue didn't sway everyone in his favor. While I like both of them, I prefer the more subtle honesty of Black Joker. He's rather cute like that. ^-^
Darn it, we need a Joker doujin!

Sorry for the lateness of my reply. I've been completely drained of the will to even turn my computer on for the past week or so. I'll try to be better now.

I'll definitely have to get these next whenever I decide to buy more anthologies~ And I agree --- it needs to happen. It's sad that they're neglecting such a good source of fangirlism. *so deprived*

Hahaha! White Joker just shows up so much in the Nightmare manga...I was happy that Black was able to make more than a scant appearance~ I'm pretty sure I like both of them equally at this point. I tend to just like the "nice at first but not-so-much in reality" type, but Black's attitude and the circus ending were just adorable. *sobbb* I'm telling you, the -second- a Joker doujin is released...;A;

Naw, I've been the same way. I'm hardly anywhere online other than twitter at this point. It's just...too much effort after a day of projects, haha. ;; We can do it!...maybe...eventually...
