I love you for this post, especially for this:

I'm just sad that I see a bazillion posts saying how wonderful this really lame episode was.

I was so, soooo baffled by this. o.O

I saw this episode, and my instant reaction was "oh, shit, jumped the shark." And I say this as someone who hates the mytharc and thought S1 was the strongest season. If this ep was trying to live up to S1 standards, it failed miserably. Those had high suspense, strong narrative flow, and consistent characterization. This had...fail. *facepalm*

And, seriously, Sam blames Dean for Ruby? I wanted to punch something. And Sam's whining because he's always been the "little brother"? What the hell show has he been watching? o.O Because the Sam I knew, at first didn't even want to be a hunter and fought furiously against it, and then for a majority of the show, he was the one running their operation: finding jobs, figuring out what the spook was. They're retconning Sam's old character, and it pisses me off because I liked Sam's old character. Grr...

*ahem* So, ( ... )

Exactly. I used to LOVE Sam. I don't want him to be exactly like Dean, I want the differences, I just don't want pissy faced entitled Sam. I just . . . . . I don't get it. I don't get the love for this.

And I say this as someone who hates the mytharc and thought S1 was the strongest season. It just seemed like an intern read all the posts where everyone was saying how much they missed the monster hunt and so they spackled one together. I don't mind a good monster hunt. One with suspense and a monster that might actually keep me from yawning. I would have loved a good monster hunt with some honest communication between the boys. This felt like they were whitewashing Sam and blaming everything on Dean because the ( ... )

But a poorly paced show where the HIGHLIGHT, THE HIGHLIGHT MIND YOU is Paris Hilton (who continues to have no acting ability whatsoever) but she was still the FREAKING HIGHLIGHT of the showSee, now this is interesting to read. Because I was struck by how much of a non-highlight it was. Paris Hilton's itty bitty part seriously was hardly a blip on my radar. I thought it was slightly hysterical for Kripke to make her a monster even though her unneededly gory death was pretty ridiculously cringeworthy, but that was about it ( ... )

Honestly, I have read a lot of posts where people really liked Paris. Seriously. And I have to say, she broke up the lame fan killing monster stuff that was dragging so I give her that ( ... )

Ha, I have sorta sounded like a Sam!girl recently, I guess. Which is weird for me really, I remember my post-S1 perception of Sam was solely 'good hair/bad hair'? But his characterization used to be so flat, and since they've been really doing things with it again I just want to see it go somewhere. And I think his 'what if we could win' speech in 4.12 really got to me. Now, I really just want better for them. For both of them.

But at the end of the day....I want it equal. I would love to love them both. Do you feel it's equal? Because I could be wrong but I really, really don't understand how they are equal now. I will freely admit it if I'm just not getting it. Because I really do want to love them equally. Perhaps we're all overstating it to say it IS equal now. More, they've signaled that they're moving to that because they've now discussed equal footing. But I think identifying the main root of the problem between them for so long can be nothing but a good thing for both boys' growth. Because it's just as unhealthy for Sam to ( ... )
