And I loved it. Maybe my favorite along with the film adaptation of The Prisoner of Azkaban directed by Alfonso Cuarón--although the only one to make me cry was the film of Goblet of Fire--the reaction of Cedric's father when he finds out his son is dead did me in

*pokes back* *waves* Yeah, I know. I've been spending time reading *real* books rather than hanging around the archives. But the film lured me into taking a peek at something HP--and I'm not sorry. I heard some not-so enthusiastic reviews, but maybe it's different with a fan--I did really love it.

I thought for a movie it was pretty good. Hard core book fans are going to nitpick it. =)

I forgot to mention that animated bit from the Beadle story--I agree--it was adorable.

One of the non-fan reviews I read complained about all the camping scenes--well, blame Rowling, but I never found the movie dragged (unlike the book), and so much of the scenery was spectacular---especially that place with the stones like mushrooms...

It's not outside the realm of possibility, but it's probably unlikely that I'll be able to put together an HP Christmas special this year. The summer did a number on me, and between one thing and another, I went nearly six months without writing anything at all. I've just started again, and I'm getting back into the swing of it--but it is for another fandom, because that's what came to me. I feel mildly guilty about that, but... well, I have no intentions of leaving HP, and there's room for more than one fandom in my heart. My HP muse will return eventually; I'm fairly certain of that

It's been over a year of writer's block for me, so all I can say is, whatever fandom it is, if it's getting you to write, that's awesome--and even though I'm still at the "no, not one more" stage with SSHG fic, the part that loves it so much is glad you think you're not done with HP yet.

The consensus seems remarkably positive overall, although I've been very amused at a number of the reviews from critics that mention the plot dragging, or how boring the endless camping is. Clearly, they haven't read the book. *g*

Bwaaaaaaaaaaaa. No kidding. And yes, I do think the pacing is better in the film, if only because they found some truly stunning landscapes to place them in.

Hey, if fic can do it...

My first fandom was Trek, and once I left I didn't really look back--in terms of reading or writing. But then I didn't really have a favorite ship there as much as a favorite character. I'll admit in that sense Snape/Hermione is different--the first time I ever played in a popular, prolific ship.

This is pretty much spot-on with my own impressions. And even my husband noticed the chemistry between Harry and Hermione, so that tells you something right there.

The doe scene was perfection.

And it got me writing fanfic again, but not SS/HG. Still, it's been fun to jump back into that world.

A friend of mine saw it as completely platonic, and another in her review said she found the dancing scene between them as "awkward." I dunno. I really thought they looked good together in the film--and it's not my ship. Maybe it's just that Rupert Grint does nothing for me--but we have this smart, clever, loyal girl paired with this slow on the uptake guy who can't do much beyond "finite incantum" and who runs out on them all. I just scratch my head, films and books both trying to get what she sees in him. And I actually like Ron, but I don't see him as a good match.

And it got me writing fanfic again, but not SS/HG. Still, it's been fun to jump back into that world.

It's a rich one--even beyond SSHG, although that has always been my favorite within it by far.
