Guide to Completed SSHG Novellas (Post DH Year Two - Canon-Compatable)
I searched through FanfictionNet, AdultFanfiction, The Archive at the End of the Universe, Skyehawke, Fiction Alley, Restricted Section, Granger Enchanted, WIKTT Archives, Ashwinder, The Petulant Poetess, OWL, Digital Quill and the sshg_exchange.
Below is listed every single completed SSHG story I could find between 10,000 and 40,001 words which started posting between July 22, 2008 and July 21, 2009. I don’t mean to exclude any author or story, so if you know of a completed SSHG novella that was posted during the second year of the post-DH era not listed here, let me know.
I put a star next to the ones I personally liked (I tried all below) and otherwise noted those recognized by awards and rec sites like the fangirl_tour, Know It Alls (KIA) and crack_broom, as well as the sshg_awards to highlight those that you might find worthwhile checking out.
I couldn't fit all the novellas onto one post, so I divided them into canon and non-canon compatible. Canon-compatible includes EWE--just about any story that uses Deathly Hallows canon even if Alternate Universe.

A lot of my favorite stories this year can be found on this post, and all but five of the 18 I starred came from the sshg_exchange. Those who know how I feel about Lucius/Snape/Hermione might be surprised to find two LMSSHG among those favorites, although from very opposite directions--one wry and hilarious (shiv5468's The Beginner's Guide to Breeding Peacocks) and the other very angsty Foreign Country by wonderfulwrites that wrestles with a lot of the issues I have with this particular threesome--and provides episodes of PWP along the way of plot).
Besides Shiv's Peacocks, other stories that had me laughing my ass off included iulia_linnea's Breeding Season, miamadwyn's The Marriage Benefit and hayseed_42's Toby Snape and the Wholly Holy Hideout. All four stories have very different brands of humor from light-hearted to broad.
For angsty goodness beyond Foreign Country, there's somigliana's The Traveller, an imaginative and ultimately romantic AU, lariopefic's Dark Santiago (moving and wise); juno_magic's La Belle Sorcière Sans Merci (lyrical and bittersweet), redorchids's Duality (darkish) and with death_ofme's By Any Other Name - Variations of A Theme we veer into true darkfic, but with lovely prose any writer would envy.
Nice mixes of adventure and romance were delivered by ubiquirk's Conspiracy Theory and christinex1001's Half Magic and scattered_logic's Even Stopper Death gave us a thoughtful character piece. Lots here to love for all different tastes and moods.
Below is listed every single completed SSHG story I could find between 10,000 and 40,001 words which started posting between July 22, 2008 and July 21, 2009. I don’t mean to exclude any author or story, so if you know of a completed SSHG novella that was posted during the second year of the post-DH era not listed here, let me know.
I put a star next to the ones I personally liked (I tried all below) and otherwise noted those recognized by awards and rec sites like the fangirl_tour, Know It Alls (KIA) and crack_broom, as well as the sshg_awards to highlight those that you might find worthwhile checking out.
I couldn't fit all the novellas onto one post, so I divided them into canon and non-canon compatible. Canon-compatible includes EWE--just about any story that uses Deathly Hallows canon even if Alternate Universe.

A lot of my favorite stories this year can be found on this post, and all but five of the 18 I starred came from the sshg_exchange. Those who know how I feel about Lucius/Snape/Hermione might be surprised to find two LMSSHG among those favorites, although from very opposite directions--one wry and hilarious (shiv5468's The Beginner's Guide to Breeding Peacocks) and the other very angsty Foreign Country by wonderfulwrites that wrestles with a lot of the issues I have with this particular threesome--and provides episodes of PWP along the way of plot).
Besides Shiv's Peacocks, other stories that had me laughing my ass off included iulia_linnea's Breeding Season, miamadwyn's The Marriage Benefit and hayseed_42's Toby Snape and the Wholly Holy Hideout. All four stories have very different brands of humor from light-hearted to broad.
For angsty goodness beyond Foreign Country, there's somigliana's The Traveller, an imaginative and ultimately romantic AU, lariopefic's Dark Santiago (moving and wise); juno_magic's La Belle Sorcière Sans Merci (lyrical and bittersweet), redorchids's Duality (darkish) and with death_ofme's By Any Other Name - Variations of A Theme we veer into true darkfic, but with lovely prose any writer would envy.
Nice mixes of adventure and romance were delivered by ubiquirk's Conspiracy Theory and christinex1001's Half Magic and scattered_logic's Even Stopper Death gave us a thoughtful character piece. Lots here to love for all different tastes and moods.
