Hahaha, exactly!! I have no desire to ever shop at an A&F store or any of their ilk either, no matter how many overly sexualized ads they plaster up on their walls. I think the "one ball, two ball" slogan is so ridiculous. Apparently, A&F thinks you're a "man's man" who has courage ("balls") if you wrestle. OK. If we needed a surer sign that we live in a patriarchal society, the fact that something as fragile as balls stand for courage and guts while something as strong and frankly miraculous as a vagina gets associated with weakness/fear ("pussy"), right there it is.

good job Abercrombie! you're doing it right XD Well, except for the part where they excluded everyone but non-white dudes and tried to deny the homoeroticism or gay imagery of their material. XD MadTV did an excellent job of airing that dirty laundry when they had the store react to black, asian, and female cast members attempting to be hired at the store. At least they eventually got sued ( ... )

yep, we live in a pretty fucked up society sadly :\

that was sarcastic btw lol of course they're not "doing it right" the losers, but at least they got sued so yay lol

Completely agreed. It's a pretty depressing spiral when you start to think about all of society's ills. *head desk*

Oh! I figured you just meant they were getting the homoeroticism right and that's it, haha! Sarcasm works beautifully to get the point across, too, and yes, at least someone was able to actually bring a suit against them.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. I remember when you showed me that A&F. Actually, it was only a few weeks ago! XD Brian Kinney would all over an ad campaign like that. ;)

And that first photo is CRAZY! Fandoms collide is right!! Too good, just too good. The universe approves, as it should. ^___^

Ah, I know, it doesn't feel like that recently, does it?! It feels like it's been a long time since I've seen you. I don't know why. XD Maybe because...*adopts waxing poetically narrator voice* ...So much has happened. Plants have bloomed. Cities have grown. I saw The Ramos. They say you can never go home again...after seeing dat ass. I'm feeling really punchy today, can you tell?

I couldn't believe the coincidence when I ran into it, but I love it! They both have such winning smiles. :)

I hope you enjoyed. Although the Carlson twins are the ones that ended up reminding me of Pence, the picture of the Stenmark twins (the motorbike & sidecar pic) reminds me of the Winklevoss twins somehow...it's the hair. Yep, it's the dandy side-part hair.

Sidenote: I was just considering whether I wanted to go with fop or dandy for the sidepart...why is "dude" listed as a synonym for fop? Dandy, popinjay? OK, I get that. But dude? What? Does "dude" have origins in language of which I am woefully unaware? *researches some more* Oh my God it does ( ... )

It does feel like a long time and strangely, it feels like only yesterday, too. Paradox! Gee, can you tell who's on my mind? XD

I can't wait to see dat ass from all the awesome photos you've taken. Amazing! I am still in awe that you saw The Ramos. Too cool.

Ahh, I get what you're saying about the A&F twins. I can see the Winklevii resemblance.

I love that you looked up the etymology of "dude." I had no idea it's related to "dandy" from a meaning of dressing in fancy attire. I'll bet most present-day "dudes" have no idea of the definition, nor are they dressing accordingly, the slackers! XD

Thanks for the interesting info!

It is a weird feeling. I've felt that way about college for a while--like it seems so far and yet so close at the same time. Hmm, time paradox...Dr. Who? XD

Can't wait to full-on unleash my tale with someone who is going to really understand/appreciate what it meant for me to see them. I'm probably going to gush, fair warning. XD

I just had to know why dude came up since its current vernacular definition is so removed from anything close to fop/dandy.

nor are they dressing accordingly, the slackers

Hahaha, so true. XD Surfer dude, get on your finest coral necklace and board shorts! And make sure you wax your board (Freudian slip: body) to the most brilliant sheen to match your sun-bleached hair!

Ahhh twincest. I'm in love with that suit twincest going on.

You know when they have the live models out by the A&F stores I can't make myself go inside. The models make me so nervous, I just walk back and forth pretending like I'm ignoring A&F.

Uhm, yes those GIFs are steamy, steamy, steamy, I think we should start turning to A&F for more wonderful material.
How can A&F possibly deny this ad? The kiss on the forehead is adorable!

AHAHAHA, I remember that MADtv skit was funny as hell. Dutch, Carpenter, and Storm! Oh and the paddle booty slap, ahahaha.

The suit composition with the Hortoneda twins is just lovely. You can imagine feel the puff of breath across the other twin's nose. The other photos in the set are them just chilling out in various stages of undress and a decidedly creepy entry where for no apparent reason, they're in speedos and dress shoes on a staircase, looking down apathetically at a woman who is lying on her back with her dress over her face as though she's fallen down the stairs; maybe the result of those golden sky-scrapers on her feet. She might be dead; she might be unconscious...I don't know if we're supposed to think they pushed her (got your murdering back, bro!) or simply found her and are contemplating what to do (to her, bluck), but not a good vibe to that photo. We can pretend she was playing hide and seek (they'll never find me on the stairs! If I had my face, no one will know me!) and those indifferent twin expressions are really just saying "Try harder next time; we found you as soon as we got on our speedos and loafers ( ... )

Now that I've taken a look at the ad, it's totally gay porn. Even the music is pr0n-esque.

At one point one of the models looks like he had an orgasm in that shower and he was recovering while holding his partner up.
If this ad isn't a great example of homoeroticism I don't know what is.

It's just baffling to me. It really stood out to me when a professor once told us, try to think of an insult that's legitimately degrading, dismissive, and hurtful to the most dominant group--that can't just be shrugged off. You start to think about all the ways in which commonplace words and language structure reinforces that dominance. There's so much negative gendered connotation to language when we stop and think about it ( ... )

Yes, it is definitely ultra-sexual and overtly so...your description of the one model seeming to have climaxed is so apt I knew exactly which part you meant as you soon as you said it. He's just staring up at his partner, drawing ragged breaths that have nothing to do with supporting the weight of the partner (since he's mostly just steadying the other model--he's bearing the brunt of his own weight shunting against the shower walls). Exertion is definitely portrayed.

well, i meant it both ways actually lol they're doing it right with the homo-eroticism but it was also a sarcastic response to their model hiring practices, sorry for the confusion. it was kinda a double edged comment XD
