Great! Well written! Moving... But we'll never know what he would've done, in spite of what he tells SP at the end of exeunt omnes... I prefer your alternate take!
Thank you, Aline. No, we will never know what he would have done, although given how put out he was that he didn't have that option open to him anymore tends to make me think he was going to sell Chris out.
Since I refuse to believe any of that, however, I prefer my version, too. ;)
I agree with you. He would probably have sold Chris out -and it wouldn't have worked because his testimony was worthless, from a legal POV, and then spend 16 episodes beating himself about it.
Of course in the real world that situation would never come up in the first place. Right after it was revealed that Agt. Taylor had gotten that other witness to provide false testimony, Taylor would have been brought up on disciplinary charges at the FBI, and very likely charged with soliciting perjury, which can carry a prison sentence.
Just one more example of how sloppy and careless Tom got with things at the end. Of course, that does make it all the easier to toss that last season out the window.
And what is Agent Taylor's problem? Geesh...*g* I love that you changed that horrible plot that Fontana gave us(Toby selling Chris out) into something more believable(hey, I'm a sucker for romance, sometimes*g*). Not that I'm still bitter about s666...;)
Well, Agt. Taylor is simply a dedicated, somewhat overzealous cop who wants to see justice done -- not unlike a certain Elliot Stabler. His problem, of course, is that in this instance is that he's after our guy Keller. I really think if it hadn't been Chris he was after, if he had been in pursuit of some character we weren't all attached to, Spanky might be perceived very differently.
Sadly for Spanky, this is one time when we just don't want to see him get his man. :/
