Drabble 12 of 20:  Happy

Pairing:  Gabe/William, past and future William/Christine, hints of Victoria/Ryland (Victoria Island, eh!)

Disclaimer: I do not own the Cobra Starship or The Academy Is…. Any events here are purely fictional.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was just another night between the two of them. They were in the basement, laying on the couch and enjoying one another’s presence. Gabe can enjoy someone’s company without the said company being naked, just to let you know.

William was in Gabe’s arms, loving the warmth Gabe offered while Gabe talked aimlessly over anything and anyone. Though he wanted to relax and listen to Gabe’s opinion on how the baby might look like if Victoria and Ryland actually hitched (“On one hand,” Gabe said, “Victoria is the mom. But on the other hand, Ryland is the dad.”) but he was thinking about something.

What if my parents don’t understand? Will they get mad at me for not telling them this earlier? Will they tell me or Christine to get rid of the baby? Even if Christine and I aren’t together anymore, this is our choice and we both don’t want to lose the baby. I hope not…

“And what happens if the kid has Ryland’s height but none of Victoria’s hotness? Man, that is going to be an awkward childhood for-“Gabe stopped, realizing that William wasn’t laughing at his witty observations. He looked at William and saw how nervous the The Academy Is…singer was. He sat up on the couch, making William sit up as well.

“Bilvy?” Gabe said looking concerned for his lover as William finally paid attention to him. “What’s wrong?”

“It’s about Christine,” William explained anxiously, turning his head to look at Gabe. He nervously bit his lip, chewing on it. “She got pregnant and I have to tell my parents and will tell me to tell her to get an abortion and Gabe I don’t want to do that because Christine really wants to keep the baby and I want to keep the baby and-“

“Whoa, whoa, stop right there,” Gabe said. He started to rub William’s back in an effort to calm him down. “One: Calm down, Bilvy. Two: Can you talk slower?”

Gabe continued to rub William’s back while William explained more slowly, talking about how Christine was three months pregnant with the baby (“And I’m sure it’s my baby,” William added when he saw Gabe open his mouth to ask the obvious question.) and how he was planning to tell his parents later on when he met them for Thanksgiving.

“And I’m worried that they’ll make Christine abort the baby,” William said, “and Christine and I don’t want that. We want to raise the baby.” As if on cue, he started to cry.

Gabe hugged William, trying to think of how to calm down the man. The only idea that came in his head was going to deprive him of the one thing he loved. And, no, it wasn’t sex. After letting William cry for a minute or two, he gently pulled William away from his now wet shoulder. He smiled at him, getting a beautiful smile in return.

“What makes you think they don’t want the baby, Bilvy?” Gabe asked gently, “I mean, your parents would love grandkids. Have you heard your mom moan when we told her we were together? She kept complaining how she’ll never hear babies.”

William couldn’t help but laugh, remembering that time well. “It’s just they…they know I’m with you and they think a man should be with the woman when she’s pregnant. So I either get back together with her or I don’t…” William shrugged his shoulders helplessly, as if that would make sense. To those who don’t know William well enough, it doesn’t. But it makes sense to Gabe.

“Then go with her and raise the kid,” Gabe said, “I can wait for you.” He kissed William’s cheeks, as if trying to wipe the tears that were still on William’s cheeks with his kisses.

“Really?”

“Of course, I love you and I want you to be happy. And if that means letting you raise that beautiful baby-“

“What makes you think the baby will be beautiful?” William couldn’t help but ask.

“Because the baby has your genes and Christine, duh,” Gabe said, “now let me finish. It if means letting you raise that beautiful baby and I have to simply watch from the sidelines as the cool, awesome uncle, I’m alright with that. If it keeps you from crying, I’ll even help you raise the baby with Christine.”

William kissed Gabe softly on the lips. “No, I…I have to accept my responsibility now and you’re already doing so much for me. Thank you Gabe.”

“You’re welcome, Bilvy baby,” Gabe said, resting back down on the couch and making William go down with him. William rested his head on Gabe’s chest, feeling light and happy then he felt the entire ni-

“I got one question.”

“What?”

“What will the baby’s name be? Because ‘Gabe’ is a great name for-“

William laughed. “I’ll talk to Christine about the boy name, but we both agreed ‘Genevieve’ is the name if the baby is a girl.”

“Genevieve,” Gabe said slowly, as if trying the name for him, “nice name. But are you sure the boy name can’t be-“

William shut him up with a kiss and Gabe didn’t complain.
