Drabble 9 of 20: Origami

Pairing:  George/Ringo, hints of John/Paul

Disclaimer: I do not own the The Beatles. Any events here are purely fictional.

“Why are you doing this again?” George asked, looking at Ringo as the blue-eyed drummer attempted to fold the paper into another ‘bird’ (‘cranes’).

“Because, Geo, it seemed fun and easy when that cute bird showed me when we’re going in here.” Judging by Ringo’s papers cuts and his soft cursing, it wasn’t easy.

It was 1966 and the The Beatles have just arrived in Japan two hours ago. They were tired and airsick but were excited to be in the land of ‘Cherry Blossoms and Authentic Asian Culture’. Or the brochure Brian Epstein, their manager, gave to them proclaimed.

John and Paul were once again forced to stay in the same room together in order to work together for their next appearance. While the two squabbled, fought and made out in the hotel room, George and Ringo shared the same room by default. Not that George mind. Since it meant he got to stay with his love more often.

“There must be another reason why you’re doing this, Rings. You don’t suddenly attempt to fold a bloody 1000 bir-“

“Cranes,” Ringo corrected, giving a triumphant look at his completed bird…crane. Setting it down, Ringo took another piece of paper from the floor and started over again.

Ringo had done over 50 of them by now and his bed was starting to look like a farm by now. George rolled his eyes playfully, sitting up from his bed to go sit next to Ringo now.

“Careful,” Ringo cautioned, looking at his boyfriend as he was sitting down next to him on the bed, not wanting the birds (cranes) to be disturbed. Christ, you think George was trying to burn the birds (cranes) or something

“I will be, Rings. Jesus,” George, not wanting to miss out on doing an activity with Ringo, took one of the leaves of paper himself and started to fold along with him. “I just want to know why you’re doing this. What’s the real reason why you’re doing this?”

Ringo looked at George, smiling bashfully and painting his cheeks an adorable red. “Do you really want to know?” Ringo asked.

“Of course,” George replied. “I wouldn’t be asking if I didn’t want to know, would I?”

“Well, alright.” Ringo leaned over and whispered in his ear, “I want to make our wish come true and I heard that if you fold 1000 cranes, your wish will.”

George looked at Ringo, unable to talk for a few seconds before laughing softly. He gathered Ringo in his arms, not caring if he squashed the cranes. He kissed Ringo on the nose, smiling at him now with a twinkle in his eye.

“But it already is true, love,” George said and he pulled Ringo into a deep, loving kiss. Ringo responded and the two fell back on the bed, loving each other.

The cranes were promptly forgotten the entire night.

Ohai actual planned drabble theme! And ohai that The Beatles drabble I’ve been meaning to do! I haven’t seen the either of you in a long time!  Yes, I used a really bad year for the The Beatles to place this drabble but I couldn’t think of any other way Ringo would be doing this. Sorry.

If I remember correctly, if you fold 1000 paper birds (cranes), you get a wish to come true. Hench why George said that in the end: The wish was that him and Geo to be lovers forever.

…I’m a sap, sue me.
