Ah, but people are animals. We just happen to be the dominant lifeform. The reality is we humans kill other creatures for food. But so does everything else. That's the circle of life. If I stopped feeding them, my cats would eventually eat me. I get that.
That's why I'm posting here, and not there. :) While I have many vegetarian friends (is that like "my best friend is black"?), none of them have ever been like this, at least not to me.
... as is the pig. This is the exact thing I'm thinking (and talking out loud to the laptop.) "becoming bacon" is a curing process; the pig was long dead before any part of it started becoming bacon. Now pigs are smart critters; it knows it's next when it sees the piggy in front getting killed. That said, in every industrial case I've seen (and I've seen many), the pig is killed with an air hammer to the head -- neat little hole in the head that instantly scrambles the brain like an egg at IHOP. It's a pretty quick, painless process.
Humans, while we're "animals" aren't the same as pigs. I think most people (you included) know how I feel about these things, but honestly, if it's my life or a loved one's life vs. a pig's life, it's obvious what I'm going to choose.
