Scary stuff. I've been near one tornado in my life, in Mandeville, LA of all places. I was at work in a small cafe, and just remember the light going all greenish yellow, then debris flying down the street sideways. Most of the damage was one street over from my work. We lost a streetlight. LOL. I'm glad you and yours are ok. The weather has really been off the hook these past few weeks.

I've seen one small tornado, when I was a kid. It actually touched down right beside our house, tore up a couple pine trees and disappeared. I was standing on the front porch watching it.
A few years back, the trailer one of my closest friends was in the process of moving out of was demolished by one. Luckily she wasn't there and most of her stuff was moved out...We found her doorknob in the front yards, sans door and her refrigerator was thrown through the neighbor's (otherwise untouched) house.

But those are the kind we usually get here...tiny ones and water spouts in the middle of storms/hurricanes that touch down briefly and disappear--Nothing like this.

So yeah, it's freaky.

I've been through major earthquakes; my Dad's been through major earthquakes and major tornadoes.

He tells me that tornadoes are worse because they play cat-and-mouse...

I have no experience with either, other than tiny ones. But I can see where tornadoes would be worse--It IS so random and it just seems like a natural disaster CHASING you, ya know?

I like the normal natural disaster for our area--hurricanes. We have DAYS instead of minutes to get the hell out the way. *L*

Me too...That shit freaked me out.
I just can't believe that no one was killed.

According to the most recent news:
"The latest estimates show that 46 homes and businesses were destroyed and 91 sustained major damage. The number of buildings with minor or limited damage was at 319."

Bloody incredible.
