I woke up this morning to news that apparently Amazon.com pulled Macmillan books from their site. Both print and e-books. Apparently it was because of a disagreement about e-book pricing. Amazon.com wants to keep it at $9.99 while Macmillan wants to push it up to $15. Here's an article on New York Times about that ( Read more... )

Yeah. I think a lot of the price for e-books is "labor" costs. It can't be too comfortable getting someone to read a book out loud without changes of pace, stumbling over words, coughs, etc, and I can't imagine the time that went into it.

Oh, man! I absolutely adore her Orphan's Tales books!

amazonh are a law unto their own and as a bookseller this is extremely good news for me. amazon has our industry in a stranglehold and they will be the primary reason for the decline of bookselling in the uk if not the world. hey hold publishers ransom, they take the delight and joy out of books and they devalue books for the average customer. of course the books aere cheap... so most people will let them off these crimes.

book depositary is way better i reckonl

I didn't check to see if Amazon.co.uk took Macmillan books off, too. I'll admit I like buying from Amazon.com because the college bookstore isn't as robust as I'd like (it's pretty teeny when it comes to fictional books) and I don't have a car to visit another actual bookstore. Which is another reason I generally like my public library and their interlibrary loan system.

I hope your business gets a bump up!
