facebook is weird like that. but i must add that my friends all have wildly different parenting styles and from what i can tell the kids are all (at times astonishingly!) turning out pretty much okay. i especially notice differences in my scientist friends (have a lot for some reason) v/s non-scientist friends. i am curious to see what kind of parent i will be!

what do you notice about your scientist friends, just out of curiosity... if a generalization could be made?

in general they are maybe slightly less emotion-driven as parents? for instance they are more inclined to get their babies on a schedule, sleep and otherwise. note that i am not judging this in any way; it's just an observation!

heh, no worries, you don't sound like you are judging them. i was just curious. i'm not a scientist or anything. i can see how your theory applies to some people i know though who are scientists!

A lot of my Facebook high school friends post things like "I just realized I've been breastfeeding for almost 3 year!" I guess I'm lucky?

very lucky! I would like someone to tell me to suck it up when I say "I can't nurse my 21 month old one more day or I will go INSANE. Upside down nursing every 7 minutes? Water torture seems pale in comparison.

Yea, she always makes me feel guilty, actually. But not intentionally. Which makes me feel even more guilty.

Upside down nursing every 7 minutes? I'm not even sure what that means...

I guess. :)

My wife always ask me, do you think we will be good parents? My only reply is that everything we do, we just do it out of love.

LOL on every level. I kind of avoid facebook for that reason, I get tired of wondering who I'm going to offend with what posting. I have so many nurses/conservative A-holes (thanks to growing up in Oklahoma) who jump on posts, and really don't want to get into their whole drama... but sometimes I can't resist!!

I try not to post parent stuff, but sometimes I want to tell people to SUCK IT so bad. For example, my friend from 3rd grade who's wife just had a baby and he was like "39 weeks today, we got to schedule the induction!" and then 15 comments that were like "YAY!" and "Don't you love that you can schedule the birthdate?!"
