You wander into a new town, and you feel out who's who, what's what, where the safe places are, how things work. Basic survival tactics, in a world like this one -- you have to be able to work out the lay of the land quickly. And if you wander enough, you get good at it ( Read more... )

Newbie alert!

"Hi there."

The girl with the guitar is smallish, blonde, and probably not out of her teens. This, combined with her expression at the moment and the fact that she's not (visibly) armed at the moment, make her look about as unthreatening as you can safely assume anyone to be theses days.

--She has a GUITAR. Which is getting a look not unlike a starving man might give a burger.

"Um."

Right, focus.

"Hi." He waves a little. "I'm, um, kinda lost."

"You don't say." There's a hint of a smirk, there, but no malice in it.

(She does pull the guitar a little closer to herself, though. No touchy!)

"Lost as in have somewhere to be but aren't sure how to get there, or just...don't know where you're going?"

Any metaphysical double-entendres are probably unintentional.

"Uh, second one, I guess."

He rubs the back of his head. "Know anyplace good to spend the night? Maybe get some food?"

Gwen is familiar with pretty much totally lost. She sees it fairly often.

Now, please don't call her biased, but after the last influx of poor pitiful new humantypes ... well, she's a little edgy about new guys. So when she catches this guy's scent, her eyes narrow.

She adjusts her scarf a little more snugly around her neck and ... wanders.

His way, if you must know. But it's probably a coincidence.

Tom is a lot more suspicious of shapes that shamble than shapes that wander. He tenses up just a little, though, when she comes into his line of sight, and hitches his backpack higher.

Not so much for the access to the gun as to make it steadier in case he has to turn around and run like hell.

Gwen catches the hitching motion and stops short-- what's he doing? But when no weapon is forthcoming, she relaxes a bit.

"Hey," she calls. Halfway to friendly.

He blinks, and then waves a little.

"Hey."
