Gwen is ... in the Wasteland.

Yes.

And it is a perfectly normal night.

... Except for the part where Salla kissed her.

That. Uh.

That was unexpected.

Vanessa is oblivious to anything unusual. She is reporting for work, and by working she means socializing while occasionally serving drinks.

"As much as the blue pill'd be nice...we're all tumblin' down the rabbit hole, so might as well keep my eyes open.

Red pill, thank you miss Red."

"You're welcome." Vanessa really never picked up that many nicknames at home, but she isn't going to complain. Even if being addressed as Cherry is faintly disturbing. At least Red is obvious.

She hands him the Coke and pops the top on the Pepsi, taking a sip. Perks of waitressing, she figures. The soda is sweet on her tongue, the bubbles unfamiliar after all this time.

Armand occasionally gives nicknames, though normally 'sweetheart' and 'babe' suffice.

"Ah...thank you. Coke. How, let me count the ways I've missed you."

The Pepsi tastes different until Vanessa looks down and figures it out. "Huh, it's not diet."

She shrugs. "Guess there's no point to that stuff anymore, huh?"

"Never really saw the point of it before, but...no, not really. We're all on diets, whether we like it or not."

Vanessa is tempted to rattle off her reasons for dieting all the time Before, but she finds they've all slipped away. Funny, that.

"I miss chocolate," she sighs.

Typical girl response, yes. True nevertheless.

"...Chinese. There used to be the best Chinese place near my uncle's gargarge."

Armand's tone is dreamy.

"Oh, Chinese. General Tso's chicken."

Vanessa is hungry now.

"Wan Ton Soup."

So is Armand.

Vanessa sighs. "Well, now I'm all hungry."

Technically, the Wasteland's canned food is payment, but if she wants to eat part of her own paycheck, it can't hurt, right?

"My apologies. Cars and food are just what I miss the most. Ah well, maybe, one day, I'll find someone who makes Chinese and I shall be their willing slave as long as I get some."

Vanessa grins. "You'd desert your boss for some takeout? Kinda sad."

"...he could always learn how to cook. Or maybe I'd rotate."

...the mental image of Russ in a little chef's hat and a "Kiss the Cook!" apron is too fantastic, and Vanessa bursts out laughing.

The sugar from the soda is probably getting to her.

Sadly, Arand isn't telepathic.

Otherwise there'd be no shutting him up. So he just smiles at her, and drinks his coke.
