I had to check and found that I've been on LJ for 14 years now. Amazing how easy it is to loose track of time, isn't it? I think I'll check out that discussion you linked.
Also, I loved to read the story of your icons. Esp. the I-O one :-)
Haha, that took me a moment to figure out which one you meant -- but it's a really fun story, isn't it! (There's lots more weirdness over at the linked post on the rest of the blocks, although each one would take a bit to explain.)
Oh, fun, I didn't realize we were about of the same vintage on LJ! And I hope you enjoyed the nostalgic discussion if you followed the links.
I sort of vaguely followed what was going on with House until the end, without watching myself. But for a while there, yeah, I was really into it, too.
Wow, 15 years! Congrats! Love the House icon, really takes me back to the good ol’ days. Thursday evenings were reserved for House (Wednesdays for Criminal Minds and Fridays for CSI and Medium) and would only make plans for after the shows. These days I barely watch tv, nithi g can hold my attention for more than 10 minutes. I miss those days/shows.
I really need to figure how to make icons, seems like a fun thing to do.
Edit to add: luv the icon on this post as well! ♥️
I think Tuesdays were House days for us. It was the only TV show I was watching -- I'm really bad at TV, and especially at watching TV live, so having even one show I followed was quite unusual. And one of my co-workers was a fan, too, so wed have a discussion of the previous night's episode the next day over lunch. That was fun!
I really enjoy making icons, and find it a low-key creative thing. I'm not much good at it, but I do like the tinkering. I use PAINT.net (which is free and legal), and sort of just poke at things until I'm satisfied or want to move on to something else. But other people can do some really amazing things with icons, and there's a thriving icon-making community, from what I understand.
And thank you! I just collect great icons other people make and keep them forever, so I can trot them out at the perfect time :)
I just worry that the DW activity is temporary, but I'm not sure. On one hand, I feel like that is what happened the last few times there was a surge, but on the other hand, it really felt like the surge only lasted a week or two. It's been a few months now, and people are still going strong.

I really like the House icon. I used to really be into that show. I only gave up on it in its last season.
