Alan!!! And Kristof. And Arrek. I AM GREEDY also have missed your memes :DD
PS. re: Vorkosigan, thank you for the link! But lately, I've been traumatized by D's commentary at Cordelia books (he's on Barrayar now), and he keeps saying she's too MS for his tastes and I want to cry rivers of blood.
And I have missed your prompts! Answers forthcoming (but tomorrow morning, b/c I should probably go to bed at some point, seeing as how I've only had 4 hours of sleep last night courtesy of my own damn stupidity; stupid time change, it's not supposed to be past midnight already...>:/)
I did not realize D had started reading the Cordelia books! I don't think I understand what "too MS" means in this context, but confess I'm actually more curious about his opinion of Aral :) (If Cordelia isn't working for him, I'm just gonna conclude that he is too Barrayaran to accept one of those wacky Betans :P)
MS was meant to be Mary Sue, sorry! And hahaha, I like your theory :P So far what he said on Barrayar was "it's funny", and I'm basically tearing my hair out because it's not the reaction I expected XD
Ouch, time changes suck like that :< Have a good night, Anna dear!
Ah! I guess objectively speaking Cordelia is a bit of a Mary-Sue, but it's one of those cases where I totally don't care because she is too awesome.
I wonder if the Miles books will resonate more with him. LMB apparently suggests guys start with Miles and women start with "Shards", in the absence of specific preferences. I can see some aspect of Miles resonating for D (but then, I figured Aral would, too, so, hmm. But then "Shards" is a romance story with an interplanetary war backdrop, and "Barrayar" is a family/mama bear story with a political upheaval backdrop, and maybe space capers will work better for him.
Also, I am highly amused by the fact that the best-selling book in Alaska is a book about Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I haven't read most of them (just Microserfs and American Gods), but I also find it appropriate that New York's book is some Sarah Silverman memoir/essay thing.
I agree that Cordelia has a lot of Gryffindor qualities and could see this...though I could also see her begging the sorting hat to put her in Slytherin to be with the "rich people" or whatever.
I see Cordelia as a Muggleborn, who blithely drags Muggle traditions she likes to Hogwarts, and who is going to stand in her way?
I could also see her begging the sorting hat to put her in Slytherin to be with the "rich people"
Ha, I could see that too! I do think that, sorted into Gryffindor, Crodelia would feel annoyed to find herself with what she'd consider a bunch of losers (including Buffy, who's a Gryffindor if ever there was one) and would think she really belonged in Slytherin, but I think the Hat would insist on putting her in Gryffindor for the healthier influence.
LOL for the most popular book link - figures that Alaska would have an ice cream book. XD I'm pleased to see that so much Gaiman, Del Toro, and general genre fiction made the list!
as can be seen from the fact that book #3 has been lying on my to-read pile for ages -- sorry, lunasariel! No worries! BDT is far and away my favorite, too - it's where Lynn Flewelling really gets to stretch her horror writer muscles, which is really what, IMO, the Tamir Trilogy feels like it wants to be.
Ooh, I didn't know Ben Aaronovitch had a LJ either! And I like the headshot of Peter - it looks like he's trying to charm his way out of something via the ol' "lovable sheepishness" routine.
For the meme: looks like Peter and Nightingale are taken, so let's have Cordelia and Aral! Oh, and Zuko, if you've got some extra time to kill.

And do we even have to talk about Azula? though of course she'd be sorted later than him Haha, yeah, I imagine she'd be one of those people where the Sorting Hat barely even has to touch her head before screaming "SLYTHERIN SLYTHERIN SLYTHERIN." I could totally see Zuko, and maybe even Iroh (he certainly has some Gryffindor, and even Ravenclaw, traits, but I agree that he would enjoy turning the "we sort too soon" view of Slytherins on its head), being Hatstalls, though - a Hufflepuff!Zuko is just kinda hilarious to think of (just his luck, y'know?), even on top of the unconditional acceptance.
I think DADA is the class he would work hardest at. Totally. And it might even have some unexpected use in his personal life, given that Azula is prime Death Eater material... And, d'awww, the idea of Zuko hanging out with Hagrid and learning to fly on Buckbeak (and, IDK, feeding the flobberworms or something).
His family reunited -- Ursa there, of course, but also Ozai and Azula having repented/reformed to a point where they can be trusted

Without a doubt! :D

LOL, yes, that's definitely part of my amusement at sorting him there :)
I originally thought of Sokka and Sirius hanging out and being pranksters together, but Zuko and Sirius definitely have a lot to talk about
Sokka can come too! Sokka would be a Ravenclaw (I mean, you get Gryffindors who would like to spend their vacation at the library, like Hermione, but he's not self-righteous enough. Now, Katara is totally a Gryff!)

(And had fun writing the Slytherin-Miles-who-wills-himself-into-Gryffindor answers upthread, too, because he's really super-Slytherin.)
