3. Steven Brust, The Phoenix Guards -- I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, though I still definitely prefer the Vlad Taltos books. Paarfi's style is something I find more frustrating than funny, especially when it comes to dialogue, a deterrent rather than a bonus when it comes to this series. But, OK, it was not too bad. ( More, with spoilers )

Oh man, I need to read Fat Vampire. (Hi. I stalked you from the Kushiel club.) I love young adult lit and cheesy vampire stories. (And I read another novel about a big boned vampire that I enjoyed.)

Hi! :)

I enjoyed Fat Vampire, even though vampire lit is often not my thing. It was darker than I'd expected, but quite good. (And if you like kidlit and sci-fi, too, I would also recommend this author's other book, The True Meaning of Smekday.)

What was the other big boned vampire book you read?

It was called Real Vampires Have Curves. I had to read it because the title was just so ridiculous. It was like Bridget Jones meets Anne Rice, and I loved it for the lols.

Hee, that's a great title! I'll have to keep an eye out for it. (While I find "serious" vampire lit pretty boring, I do seem to like the ones with littls twists or subversions.)

(BTW, now that we're mutually friended, just wanted to mention that I'd love to be on your baby/kid filter, if you're comfortable with that. I saw that one of your posts mentioned you have one :) I used to be completely indifferent to babies until I had my own, but now that they're solidly in the big kid stage I find myself rather nostalgic for the baby/toddler phase :)
