3. Steven Brust, The Phoenix Guards -- I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, though I still definitely prefer the Vlad Taltos books. Paarfi's style is something I find more frustrating than funny, especially when it comes to dialogue, a deterrent rather than a bonus when it comes to this series. But, OK, it was not too bad. (

I enjoyed Fat Vampire, even though vampire lit is often not my thing. It was darker than I'd expected, but quite good. (And if you like kidlit and sci-fi, too, I would also recommend this author's other book, The True Meaning of Smekday.)
What was the other big boned vampire book you read?

(BTW, now that we're mutually friended, just wanted to mention that I'd love to be on your baby/kid filter, if you're comfortable with that. I saw that one of your posts mentioned you have one :) I used to be completely indifferent to babies until I had my own, but now that they're solidly in the big kid stage I find myself rather nostalgic for the baby/toddler phase :)
