5. Tess Gerritsen, The Bone Garden -- I think this may actually be my favorite of her books I've read, not least because it features almost no Maura Isles. ( More, with REALLY MAJOR SPOILERS )

Yeah, I like Zane better, too. I'm glad to hear that Specials is even better. *makes note to request it at the library*

Noooo, you're making me want to read the rest of Codex Alera, if only for: "The pain won't kill me. Bernard is bleeding. See to him. I believe I'll faint now, if it isn't too inconven..."
But I only have them as ebooks and since a couple of weeks my eyes have this bizarre tendency to get fried if I watch a screen for more than a couple of hours. (And for some reason the only Codex Alera book in Rotterdam libraries is Captain's Fury. Huh.)
LOL, Isana/Fade? This must've happened after book 1 because I remember nothing. Everytime I think of Fade I think of Quasimodo, which is probably mean, but yeah. XD

That sucks :( I hope it goes away.

Heh... there are two rather long intervening books... but, yeah, that line was pretty great. I think one could probably skim book 2/3 and just pay attention when one sees the names Kitai, Marcus, Max and/or Crassus, and Gaius. (At least if one is me XP -- I really dislike Isana, and wasn't too fond of Amara, either, until book 4).

Yeah, Isana/Fade happens in... book 3, IIRC, and in a way I thought was pretty stupid. And after that the Quasimodo angle stopped being played up, curiously enough.

If you want, my thoughts on book 2 and 3 (spoilery, but you don't seem to mind) are here:

Academ's Fury
Cursor's Fury (in ( ... )

Hehe, I'll give it a try, first read some other books on my pile.

LOL. How surprising.

Nah, I don't mind spoilers at all, so I'll check those links out. Will see if I take you up on that summary offer but not yet. Thanks anyway :)
