Do some hamsters just never stop biting?  I've had Spammie for about 4 months now.  She was quite nippy the first few days, but nothing some Yogies couldn't solve.  :P  She doesn't bite anymore when she's out of the cage and I'm holding her, but she still attacks you if you stick a finger in her cage.  (Chomped down on me and my mom in the same ( Read more... )

Okay, I've had my little dwarf Alphonse for two months now and I'm still getting bit. I've washed my hands, scooped him with a cup, and done all those little trick to try and get him to warm up to me, but even then he still takes chunks out of me now and then. I know I haven't had my hamster for long and that it sometimes takes awhile for them to warm up to you, but is there any way to reduce biting? Alphonse (who's a Russian dwarf) is pretty calm when he's in my hands and out of the cage, but if my finger so much as gets near his cage when he's in it he'll attack. Is he just being territorial? i was trying to hold her when she bit me. now i'm bleeding, it bit me hard. i washed my hands with soap and used paper towel to stop the bleeding. now on i'm gonna use garden gloves all the time.
