Immediate advice is right to leave hammy alone so they don't get over stressed. Although he/she will absolutely have to have the medicine on time and use all of it. The big thing about anti-biotics is the same with animals and people, if you do not give it at the right time for the whole dosing, you will not get better but just create an imunity. Our hamster (when she had wet tail) got better within days, but was careful to give her all doses until gone. If you can be careful and get that stuff in their mouth, anti-biotics are amazing. Wow thanks that helped :) I'm not 100% sure what you were saying with one thing though. Should I be giving him the medication at the same time every day? I was planning on when I wake up, around 11 or 12 and in the evening around 6 or 7. So far getting the medication in his mouth with the siringe has been the easiest and the eye drops are the hardest as he always moves so I've missed before :( Thanks!<3
The med in the mouth is probably the anti-biotic and that's the one you gotta be careful with. And you're right, the schedule can go an hour or two one way or the other, but really try not to miss a dose. All the websites I found say if you do miss a dose, don't double-up, but skip that one and keep going... seems it is a duration thing. I was just really impressed with how quickly our hammy got better, but even then had to keep with the med or might not kill all the baterial and then become resistant. :)
