Hmmm . . . I was also a little uncertain of his skills because of the fact he was unable to hold Bax properly. The problem is he is the only vet who will see them here. He is very nice and is trying very hard.

Hamsters in the U.S. generally do not get any vet treatment at all. Most people believe that an $8 pet is not worth an $35 vet bill.

And that makes me sad.

I am just really frustrated because I keep getting bad info from everyone, hamster owners and vets now! It makes me want to cry out- I just want to be good to my Bax.

I am taking your advice to heart. I am not pleased to have to tell my vet though- he is a very sweet and well-meaning man.

I am so glad that Bax wears his nails down so he usually has no reason to see a vet! He was a good boy at the vet until they tried to grab him by the neck- my vet gave Bax a lovely little bald spot . . . after receiving a bloody, painful bite! Bax had to be calmed down afterwards, cupped and petted by my boyfriend.

Otherwise, all the girls in the office were cooing over him and petting him. My boyfriend says that Bax is a chick magnet. :)
