i have heard of that but im not sure if its safe. its supposed to be fortified with electrolytes or something right? i would call and ask a vet before giving hamsters anything that isnt natural.
thanks! and it might just be this area. although i know people who also drink tapwater here. i think he was just being extra cautious cuz shes sensitive.
she is mad at me right now. i had to put her in the bottom of the cage cuz the top level didnt have the plastic sides to accommodate bedding. so i put her on the bottom with two inches of carefresh and she is like harrummph what is this? and went into her igloo to sulk.
Pardon the dumb but what do people mean when they talk of measurements like that?? How much is 1 part bleach..??? I've always wondered what I should be using to REALLY clean Pickles cage out aside from removing the nasty bedding.
it just means the ratio you want to use is 30:1 so it can be one teaspoon bleach to 30 teaspoons water or one cup bleach to 30 cups water depending on the size of the job. :)
also i'm still a little wary of using bleach, even in a small amount, as it seems so harsh, im going to look into the "cage clean" spray i used to buy and see if it contains bleach. i want to kill the bacteria...but not the ham :p
Ahh I see! Yeah I am a little wary of bleach too. Especially because of how long you can smell it on something. And Pickles little sleeping home thing is plastic and requires much cleaning since she also poo's in it but I can't imagine putting bleach on that and then her sleeping INSIDE it.

I didn't know that was not recommended.
