yup! they're dwarfs. They're actually cuddling together right now, I'll probably put a space heater next to their bin overnight just in case.
I remember you gave me a ton of advice on keeping two dwarfs together when I first posted, looks like that will come in use now! I'm going to try and find some pellet/kibble-type food so they don't fight over the good bits in the mix. I'll also have to buy multiple wheels tomorrow. as it is now the one they have is so big for them it doesn't even spin with their weight!

My guess is that she housed the mother and father together without really thinking and had an "oops" litter. She was asking for $10 per in the classifieds but by the time I got there the lady was just going "pleaaassee just take these"

Oh my gosh they are TINY! So cute. <3

I would suggest getting a bottle right away. They are so tiny that I am afraid they might fall into their water dish and drown.

You can get Oxbow from Canadian Pet Connection. I am not going to order from them again though... since a 3lbs bag of Regal Rat (for my rattie boys of course) cost the same for shipping as it did for the food, and the first time they sent it, I never got it. I had to email them over a month later to find out where my food was. Once I did get it though, my pets LOVED it. I didn't have my hammie then, so I didn't get anything geared for hamsters. -- Now I make my rats Suebee mix and they eat it all (except for the dried cranberries). I gave some to my hammie, and she likes it... but she prefers the Reggie Rat that I won't give my rats.

there actually is a water bottle in the bin, but they couldn't care less about it. I'll try lowering it a bit so it's more in their faces.
Believe me, I've been really worried about them falling in and getting cold and sick from it too. For now I've just been keeping the water super low and monitoring it closely.

thanks for the link! I'll have to sit on my decision a bit because of your comments, but at least it's good to know there's actually some suppliers out there, I was ready to give up!

Yikes, they are really, really small. Like 'too young to be away from their mother' small. I would recommend heading down to the pet store and getting a syringe and a bottle of kitten milk for them. They look old enough to eat food on their own, but would likely be still getting milk from their mother at this age.

Good luck, they are adorable!

So kitten formula should be okay for them to digest? I'll pick some up first thing tomorrow as well as a little mozzarella for calcium as kyboshia suggested.
they're very cute, but this whole situation is going to give me a panic attack D:

Kitten formula is usually what's recommended for small animals, since we can't exactly pick up hamster milk. :)

They'll probably be okay, they're at the age when they're transitioning to seeds and hamster food, but a little milk would probably be good for them to have in addition.

THANK YOU proteidae January 3 2009, 07:54:51 UTC
THANK YOU to everyone so far that has commented, it really means a lot to me. I'm going to try and sleep for the night (like I'm going to be able to get any!) and get straight to helping these little ones out in the morning. I feel really dumb and guilty and I'm worried sick but you guys are being really supportive. I really appreciate it <3
