I'm having a problem with my little hamster guy. His nails are getting waay to long and the one is starting to curve back to his paw. Right now it's just heading that direction so we're not in a horrible place yet

Yeah, you can cut them... but you have to be careful since the middle of their nail is live like dogs and cats... so if you cut too far, it will bleed. If his nails are really really long, what you'll have to do is cut just a tiny bit, but often. So cut some, let the quick go back from the tip, cut some more, etc, until they are of normal length again.
Yeah, you can clip them with regular human nail clippers. Just look over the nail-- the very end of the nail should appear clear and as it gets close to the quick you'll see the inside become white/pink. Just cut off the clear ends, try not to get too close to the quick or it could bleed when you clip it. Keep some flour or corn starch around to press his nail into in case it starts bleeding. The flour/corn starch will serve as an artificial clot
