He's still little, and in the nip nip stage. I went through that with Banana. (god rest his little fuzzy soul) he's getting used to you.

Eh, no problem. I've raised many hammies, and will continue to do so. A little trick a learned for the new babies, is when you change their cage, or reach in to pet them, touch their bedding and toys, you leave your scent and they learn to associate that with their provider of food, and snuggles.

When I go into where the cages are to check on them when they are all up, four little faces pop up to say hi. Its so cute.

Oh that's a great tip! I wish I'd known that right when I got Lewis. I know I'm not the OP, but thanks for sharing this one, I'll remember that in the future.

If his scratching seems excessive, look him over to make sure he doesn't have scabs on his skin, and look around his fur to see if you see any tiny red dots that could be mites. Hamsters and most rodents just scratch themselves a lot ( ... )
