In other news, this afternoon's rehearsal was a Sitzprobe. We heard the orchestra for the first time, and singing with it was pretty exciting. We were sounding pretty good, if I do say so myself, which makes me even more jazzed about the show. Good thing, too, because this is a week of ALL REHEARSALS ALL THE TIME.

Oh yes, that was a fun rehearsal. The orchestra sounded great; at times I felt more like I was attending a concert than going to rehearsal. One thing that surprised me was that I could sometimes hear the soloists' lyrics better with the orchestra than with the piano; I think in those spots the orchestral arrangements were actually better at underscoring, rather than drowning out, the soloists. It was also the first time I'd heard all the numbers sung. I loved the small choral ensembles in the second act, especially that bit when the foursome sang a verse a cappella. This thing is going to sound really terrific.
