There are baby spiders on the kitchen ceiling. *shudder* We've already removed several. I don't want to simply kill them, but they are seriously freaking me out. Have I mentioned lately that I'm somewhat arachnophobic? In fact, it's not just spiders that scare me, but most insectoid and arachnoid creatures with more than 4 legs. Yes, I know they ( Read more... )

Huh. I nearly commented before that it sounded like a spider bite. I don't think it's a coinky-dink that you've discovered that you have spiders.

Unlikely to kill you if that's the case, at least.

*nod* I don't quite understand how I would have gotten a spider bite in that particular spot while in the kitchen, because usually I'm very sensitive to the feeling of things crawling on me, and it would be a difficult location to reach while I'm asleep, and I haven't seen them in my room anyway, but...eh, who the hell knows?

I hadn't thought it was a spider bite because previous spider bites had looked and felt different than this one. Usually, they've been hard and painful, whereas this is still sort of soft, and it doesn't really hurt, but is tender if I poke at it. OTOH, who's to say that all spider bites are alike?

Meh. Hate crawly things.

I hate spiders. I am seriously arachnophobic - however some years ago I came to a truce with them. If they are in my bedroom and large enough for me to see from bed - they must be dispatched. If there happens to be a suitable human to remove them w/o killing them - great. If there's feline intervention involved in the removal -great. Otherwise, it's squishy with a shoe ( ... )

I have pretty much the same truce with spiders. Anything like ants, roaches, flies, or centipedes, though, have to die immediately, though.

I think I got bitten either late Saturday or early Sunday, but I don't have any memory of it. I remember blearily scratching at some small red thing I thought was a pimple when I woke up early Sunday afternoon and then realizing it felt more like a blister than a pimple, but then I got up and showered and forgot about it until Monday, when the red welt was the size of a quarter. Amazingly, I don't think I got bitten by mozzies at all during the pool party! Guess the bug spray worked.

RE: your sister...meep. Well, I am keeping an eye on it, and still no bullseye, plus I haven't felt flu-ish, but I'll be taking the doxycycline religiously either way. Today the welt is slightly larger than it was yesterday (by 3mm on one side), but I only just started the doxy last night. I'm going to give it another day to start working before I worry more.

I used to have the same truce w/spiders policy (insects being the primary adversary, and spiders eat insects), but since Shoshana's spider bite last summer spiders have been on the same proscription list as insects.

Have fun in Japan!
