To be fair, I think Netanyahu wants Romney in as well...because he knows Romney will be easily persuaded to back up an attack on Iran with few (if any) qualms. (Also, he's not Obama. Bibi definitely has a hate on for Obama.)
Note that this is not a good thing. (Either the possible Iran war or the fact that an Israeli PM is trying to influence the election--for which he's been condemned in Israel, though not here so much. Thanks to people like my dad, who buys the "throw Israel under the bus" thing. Sigh.) But it's more than just Putin, I'm afraid.
The problem isn't so much one unhinged politician, but a) that unhinged politician is going to get at least 40% of the vote and b) while most of the few remaining sane Republicans are running away from Romney, a few are doubling down on the crazy. At least some Republicans are backing Mitt's smirking attack with "supporting" tweets from the usual gang of idiots: Reince Preibus, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, etc.
Responding to the uprising by a few fanatics (who have been condemned by their own government) requires patience, intelligence and diplomacy. Three of Obama's strengths, and three of the weaknesses of virtually anyone in the Republican party.
