Having never tried it, my information is limited, but the general buzz seems to be "like Facebook with privacy control." That strikes me as a valuable selling point.

If it *IS* FB with privacy, I'll jump ship in 30 seconds!

I don't think anyone I know has invites... YET. I'm sure it's only a mater of time.

knot_frayed has a whole theory on this and has been working his contacts for a code. He really wants to be an early adopter.

We had a short discussion regarding social networks in a mail list of ex-BBN folk. It's funny that we've had these around for almost 30 years now. (28 to be exact.)

My personal guess is that we'll see full-on usage of G+ start within 3 months. (Start of the school year.)

I also predict that G+ will overtake FB and leave it in the dust by this time next year. Much in the same way M_ has been relegated to bands and kids.

BTW - I love this post. Quite the analogy. :)
