You nailed a lot about the night: the toddlers who steal the show, the too-old teens asking for candy,... And the zombie that he *knew* was real. I'll swear to this day that the witch in the Sleeping Beauty ride at Disneyland would have reached me if I hadn't ducked (I was 4).

Good idea keeping Mary for this. I imagine the boys missed out on most of this when she was gone.

I remember that ride being awfully scary when I was a kid. They've watered it down changed it now. :(

Yes, me too-- in the "Monster Mash" story I wrote for spn_flashback (which oddly enough was another Halloween story), I stated my true opinion, which was that as long as Sam could remember Halloween was serious business and all about fighting evil. No trick-or-treating or handing out candy. :(

Ahhhh... AU is so lovely, sometimes. :)

And I have such a love of toddlers in bee suits. They kill me absolutely every time. :)

This was really lovely. (I seem to be full of superlatives today...) Sam as a toddler got me, as did Dean's relationship with Mary. And, I have to say, the snarky chick in me chuckled when Dean pulled out his shotgun and told that greedy teenager to grow up...but it hurt all the same that he did it. Some really great contrasts throughout.

They are honestly the best part of Halloween. They are so clueless, and it's so painfully cute!

I actually don't feel very sorry for that kid, but I guess it's because our neighborhood is overrun with teenagers who do this, and when I was growing up it was just... not done. Once you were over about 11-12, it was understood that you had to give it up. We're not supposed to act like little kids forever, after all. ;) So I kind of like Dean's revenge here. And the irony of getting all the candy to himself in the end. (Heh).

This IS kind of bittersweet, isn't it? Like so many of even the wee!Winchester stories. Can't get away from it! :)

I loved that it was bittersweet, actually. The little pang was about Dean growing up a mite too fast, which you knew. ;-P

Sorry it was so woobie-heavy! Probably because of all that could have been for the boys, but wasn't.

Why has no-one ever come to MY door in the knight/pony combo? I would so love to see that. Our kids went out one year as Peter Pan and his (giant) friend Tinkerbell, but a lot of adults mistook Christopher for Robin Hood (the same kind of people who miss context clues and always think he's a girl).

I have such a weakness for toddlers in bee suits. They are so freaking cute!

So glad you liked, Claire. Thank you! :)

I just couldn't resist turning the prompt on its ear a little.

I.e., the "monsters" include angry little girls who don't like their costumes being insulted, and toddlers whose "Cute" totally upstages your Halloween experience! Darn!

:D

Heh, these were so cute! Even Dean pulling a shotgun on a teenager was cute...and there's something very wrong with me for saying that.

Anyway, I think I liked the fairy princess one the best. Dean getting whacked with the wand was funny. That and wee!Dean practicing his quick-draw in front of the mirror.

;) Not at all. I just told someone earlier this week that I was hooked on SPN from the Pilot, starting with the "Mom-in-flames-on-the-ceiling" scene. Which... you know. Kind of sounds really sick when you say it that way. But still!

Dean getting whacked with the wand was funny.
Oh, that was my favorite part of that story. The idea of a princessy little girl using her wand as a weapon is comedy all by itself. So ladylike. ;)

Glad you enjoyed these. Thank you! :)
