Under the nose sounds pretty painful, I have to admit. Yark.
I once had one from an oral surgeon that somehow nicked the nerve that lets you close your eye, so they had to cover it until the surgery was over. That's when I learned that neural mapping varies somewhat from one person to another, and a fluke like that is possible. :O

Yes, they do, but the process of USING the Novocaine is often excruciating. :( :(
