I saw Big Mama Snapping Turtle on the greenway last week. Sometimes I'll see a baby snapping turtle on the path, but so far this year they haven't been out. Or maybe they haven't hatched yet.
I don't think we have those out West, at least not on the coast? My dad found a smallish one during one of their locum tenens jobs in Virginia, and they kept it on the walled-in balcony of the apartment while they stayed there and then set it back out in the wild before they left. Not sure the turtle thought that was a great idea, but...
I didn't think they lived this far west, to be honest. I saw them all the time when I lived on the eastern side of the state. The first time I saw baby snappers on the path I thought they had to be something else. Then Big Mama showed up...
Bunnies! The photo looks very similar to our Eastern Cottontails. We've had a ton of them these last couple of years. Our neighborhood family lives under a clump of hosta in one yard and uses both my next door neighbor's and my backyard as their highway. Chloe knows all their entrances/exits under the fence. After her massacre a couple of summers ago (don't ask) they now go the alternate route to the front yard if they sense her. It's kind of funny in one way but at the same time we never give them credit for how smart they are in some ways.
They're fearless to an extent too. I'll pull into the driveway while a couple of them are in our front yard. They'll look up to acknowledge me when go right back to nibbling, LOL.
Lucifer gets better with every season. I didn't really get into it until maybe toward the end of Season 2? That's all I'm going to say ;)
I've seen a gazillion photos of the Eastern Cottontails while looking for this species, and they're very similar in shape and size. The markings are a little different, but their basic baby bunny shapes are just really cute.
We're late in Season 3 of Lucifer right now, I think? We've been kind of bingeing on it, because it IS light entertainment and is kind of delightful, and we could use that right now. :O
We've been stopping/starting Penny Dreadful City Of Angels. It's a whole different story/era than the original PD which supposedly angers a lot of the original PD fans thinking that they were going to getting another gothic-inspired story. The plot of CoA just hits enough too close to current events to be thoroughly enjoyable. It's a shame because Nathan Lane is carrying it with one of his, if not the best peformance I've ever seen him in (don't get me wrong, everyone else in it is great, too, but he's really in another class compared to them).
The cutest thing I've ever seen biking out there was a baby bunny next to a baby squirrel, sitting up under a bush by the side of the bike path and just watching the world go by. It was kind of surreal, like I'd fallen into a Beatrix Potter book for second. They were clearly buddies, hanging out together. :D
awww <3 We have lots of baby animals in our part of the woods too, but very rarely I see bunnies or hares. They are part of the local wildlife but extremely shy, while squirrels are just totally un-anxious. They even steal food from the table inside if I leave open the window!
I almost always think they're squirrels at first, until I notice that they're kind of "baloop-ing" away and I catch the flash of that little cottontail. :D
Baby bunnies are definitely cute. Far cuter than tortoises... even if they can't beat them in a race. :-)
I really enjoyed Lucifer. It was just a mindlessly fun show. Definitely one to help take the edge off. And that Detective Decker was definitely not bad to watch either. :-p
I only saw like half of the first season of Sleepy Hollow. I remember enjoying it. What platform is it on? And is it worth the view.
I think "mindless fun" is a good description. Not too angsty, but not too lightweight. It's great to see D.B. Woodside back at work again (as a straight man, no less), and Maze is a riot.
Sleepy Hollow is currently streaming on Hulu, and the first two seasons are a lot of fun. :D
