Well, Halfshellhusband got moved up in the surgery schedule for his hip replacement! There's an opening tomorrow, and the cardiologist who did the pacemaker said it was okay to have the additional surgery. SO... it's 11 days earlier than the postponed date would have been. Which really matters when the pain is so severe and it's a day-to-day

Your 4th sounded nice! Too bad about visiting more with the sister, though. I get that. I always feel like at the end of a trip not enough time was spent. Not sure if that's actually factual or not.
Wasting time! (Not really.)

I really wanted my sister to spend half her time at our house, in the city where there's more to do (also the one with the airport!). But my brother's wife collected her, drove to Yuba City, then picked up my brother and they drove BACK to Sacramento for dinner (WTF?). I'd hoped to take the day off, pick her up, spend some time over the next few days... *sigh* Probably my fault for being too overwhelmed to firm up plans earlier.
What did you think of the Nightmare Cat? Or some of the other art works? :D

There was an article on the Bad Art Gallery in the S.F. Chronicle this week, and the couple mentioned that it's in their home and so it's easier to view the collection online. Also that the cap on buying any such art is $20, that the average price is around $7.50, and that the wife herself personally creates several bad pieces a year.
Those descriptions are wonderful-- so much of the art has weird proportions or perspective, which gets folded in. There's a picture in Gallery 1 of a woman sitting in a chair, lots of red in the composition, and the text goes into a bizarre imagining of some French Revolution offshoot and incidentally mentions the woman's "deformed left paw"-- which is what her hand looks like. The way ideas are built up around the art's flaws makes for some truly interesting reading. The pig in the clouds is another good one. :O
