Dream a little dream of... what now?

Mar 08, 2016 17:20

Last Thursday night, I dreamed that my family was on vacation and things were going wrong right and left. Missed planes, tunnels blowing up, disappearing luggage. We had brought three cats along (as you do), and acquired two more. So, with doors breaking open and such, part of the dream was literally spent-wait for it-herding cats. Late dream ( Read more... )

you dreamed about herding cats! literally! that's so bizarre and weirdly fun. well, it's fun in retrospect - i can imagine that it was less than exciting while it was happening. and of course you stopped to spend some money on the machine that would give you shirtless idris elba. i mean, who wouldn't?

i'm approximately zero help with the idol prompts, tho.

It was tough in the dream, especially since two of the cats didn't know us well, so how do you convince them to stay and not go out where the explosions are? Plus, five. There aren't enough hands to cope with that!

Idris Elba... if you haven't seen Luther, you really should. It's probably still on Netflix streaming.

Also: Bride and Prejudice is on there. It's a "must see," in my book. :D

Your dreams sound like my dreams. I dreamed that someone left puppies inside balloons in my house for a few days without telling me. I felt so guilty they'd been living in there, getting all dirty, that despite not being much of a dog lover (and allergic anyway) that I decided to adopt them and take care of them. And then they turned into children and I was like... can I really adopt three children..? Two of them were really nice but one was sort of a little jerk and I was like... can I just adopt two? And then there was something about bowling.

Also, yes, I agree on the prompts. They're not really doing a ton for me. I feel like I could try to do something a bit funny with the cloud to every silver lining one, only all that keeps popping up into my head is the recent story that originated (?) the phrase from the week before last.

A lot of my dreams are vivid and weird. Even the repeated anxiety or "hamsterwheel-type" dreams can be weird. The places I go when I'm biking miles and miles on dead legs all too slowly-- including around inconvenient things along the way (like swimming pools) and through houses and play structures-- the choice of what shows up there is always kind of bizarre. "They're making things hard for me! Why'd they run the bike path through this house, and now there are stairs--ugh!"

So, that one prompt came out of a story? Sometimes Gary just grabs them from who knows where. The inverted adages aren't really working for me this week (they all kind of seem the same), and the other two kind of leave me flat. :(

Gah, anxiety dreams are the worst! I call them stress dreams. When it's not really nightmares, but you wake up sort of just exhausted from mentally taxing dreams.

I think I could write a book on the last one but I'm afraid of sounding emo. <3 I was already emo on my first entry and I get worried that people will get tired of le emoness. I think I know a lot of people who get annoyed with people being too emotional--so I actually came to this competition as a place I was anonymous so I didn't have to feel awkward if I wanted to explore my emotions with real weight instead of trying to minimize them with a joke for the sake of others. So there's the chance to be emo all up on a platter but old habits die hard and I find I instantly shy away from that one specifically because I'd want to write about it. Cause I worry people would find it boring or trite. And thus ME boring or trite. I think the sense that it's part a creative outlet but part a contest complicates your ability to just write. Because it can't help but feel strategic as ( ... )
