It's funny, when I was in school, Poly Sci was kind of the "I don't know what I want to do with my life" major. But she's incredibly passionate about it. She majored in Biology (for pre-med) for all of one quarter, and realized that the other kids who were doing that... read news and articles on science for fun. Whereas, she reads about politics for fun.
I'm glad she wised up sooner in college than later! No amount of "Do you really want to be a doctor?" and "Do you really want to live the path needed to become a doctor?" made her reconsider, but that little lightbulb moment made a real difference. :)
It's the, "Hey, I'm in the shower, oh god, what the HELL are you doing in here? Where do you come from?" kind of thing. Here, I looked down and a daddy long-legs was crawling around near the drain. Ugh. Where was it before then? Would it have fallen on me? :O
Young Stephen Colbert was totally my type. Whoo! Kind of wish he'd done a little more acting back then. :)
Poli sci was my other major in college! Such an interesting area, and gave me way more context for understanding the world than I would have otherwise had. Your daughter has such an excellent time ahead of her!

Today was shower-spider incident #2, which means I'm either getting it out of the way early or it is going to be a very bad year that hugely skews my statistics. o_O
