Yay! Both at once. That's kind of the Winchester double-whammy, isn't it? There's no unleavened happiness, but then the pain eventually gets waylaid by the snark.
Sam's such a little bitch and Dean's so needy
This one does have a lot of their worst points-- and you have to suspect that Sam's bitchiness hurts Dean and makes him needy, and that the neediness grates on Sam and makes him bitchy. I almost named this fic "Going In Circles." It was thatClose. :)
Glad you liked it! And *thud*. Thank god it's done. With two hours to spare. *eye roll*

I love the bed sharing as a metaphor for their relationship.

:D No, I'm from there originally. And before we had the kids, my husband and I would go back every year to visit my family, and spend part of the vacation hiking and exploring. A LOT. I hardly touched on the Cascades, which are my favorite area. But all the things I covered are intriguing in their own way. The Steens are fascinating-- the backside gravel road runs along the Alvord desert (where they mine Borax from) and it passes a historic one-room schoolhouse along the way. The front end of the Steens (the Frenchglen side) doesn't look like much-- it looks like desert. You have to take the road that goes over the top and along the rim to really see what they're like, and wow-- they ARE Alpine, and they look nothing like the area surrouding them ( ... )

“No wait-that’s it, isn’t it? God, the drawings in Dad’s journal suck.”
I was eating a cracker, and laughed crumbs all over the keyboard at this :p
“And a guy who runs away to do what everyone else is doing isn’t exactly a master at thinking outside the box,” he added. That's something that's always interested me about their relationship and about the two of them as characters - how Sam is the more straight-laced one and Dean is the one with the reckless, rebellious nature, yet it's Sam who is the "black sheep of the family," who had the rebellious streak and broke away from the family, and Dean is the one who follows orders and does what he's told. Interesting way of putting it, how Sam thinks ( ... )

It works when their awkwardness is removed and their over-thinking just steps out of the way (when they're asleep). Dean's neediness comes out because he can't stop it, anymore than he can keep Sam from showing him that it's okay. By day, the two of them screw this up regularly. :0

! \o/ to the ten-thousandth degree! I had to do a bunch of Chupacabra research yesterday, and I was suprised at how varied (and bad) the depictions are. Which just lends itself to a crack like this one. ;)
yet it's Sam who is the "black sheep of the family," who had the rebellious streak and broke away from the family, and Dean is the one who follows orders and does what he's told. This part of them is so intriguing. Sam rebels so that he can LIVE that straight-laced normality (and it's the last rebelling he wants ( ... )

Again, loving the stings along with the smiles.
Great job! You know, there's a reindeer herd out near Sisters, or used to be. How's that for a plot bunny?

They just can't leave it alone, can they? Of course, there are so many loaded conversations in that family. You mention "mother" in any context, and Whammo! Or "love". Or "loyalty". Or "Dad". Ack-- the list is endless.

I can't remember if I've seen that or not. I'm hoping the llama farm is still there-- they lasted at least a decade, but I haven't been over toward Sisters in 8 years. This year could be different-- it might be time to show the kids Proxy Falls and the lava house. :0
Reindeer in the high desert. I'm guessing they don't like that too much!
Thanks for your comments, bluesister. :D
