Even though he chose Stanford, it probably seems unfair that John and Dean kept on going without him. It's one of those irrational emotions that you know you shouldn't have, and yet you do.

There actually was (is?) a motel at the Oregon Coast with an EAP room, and I always wanted to stay in it too! But how utterly irresistible for a Winchester. It's as if it was made for them. :)

I could write a treatise on that first part... for another time.
Totally! I'll bet it afflicts younger children more than anyone. ;)

Awwwwww. The hotel is still there, but they've changed the room. It probably got converted to the JK Rowling room instead. :( Fine-- now I want to stay in the Dr. Seuss room!

Thank you! I love the idea of the two of them geeking out in a Poe-themed room, for some reason. ;)

There's more to life than automatically saying "No" to everything, though sometimes it's hard for parents to remember that. ;) And I are a parent. :0

ooh, it's a tiny rollercoaster of emotions- just like the show in microcosm.
Seriously, very nice- and HOW can Sam not know Dean is a geek? I just don't get it. ?*ponders*

Eee! One of the best feedback phrases ever!

The homemade EMF meter should have been a complete tipoff, but Sam was too busy being a snootyface at the time to really register that. Though by the time they got to Underground Conspiracy Guy with his Mandroid theories, Sam may have become aware. :0

You'd think, wouldn't you? but then, he got that discombobulated face againover the perfectly natural request for Vonnegut clarification, so I just despair of his giant brain.

I suspect it's Wincester family lore that Sam is the "smart" one (which Dean himself encourages at times). But the truth is, Dean is plenty smart too. He's just better at hiding it. ;)
