The coastal highway curved past three motels.
"Dad and I stayed there," Dean said.
Sam hated being reminded that Dad and Dean had their own lives while he was at Stanford.
"Great porn," Dean added.
"Dean! How do you go from zero to TMI so fast? Is there a bus?"
"What?"
"Nothing..."
"Whatever. That motel has an Edgar Allan Poe room, but Dad vetoed it. Too expensive."
Sam suddenly remembered half the reasons he'd left.
"Next time we come through here, we'll stay," he said.
Dean grinned like a kid. "Seriously?"
"Yeah."
Because Dad had been wrong. Happiness was cheap.
