sam is just the walking embodiment of the idea that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, isn't he.... (i love the mention of the boys pretending to be teddy bear doctors. they'll only get to fake that once.)

The show certainly did that to him in S4, which I thought was unfair because it was very unlike who he'd been before. But there's an irony in how true to the saying it became, where he could never have forseen where those good intentions would lead.

i love the mention of the boys pretending to be teddy bear doctors. they'll only get to fake that once.

Aw, that's a lovely thing to say.

I have a lot of empathy for Sam, and how hard he's tried to ride the line between the family business and his own tendency to see the 'humanity' even in the monsters they fight. He doesn't dismiss them readily (it's a huge defining characteristic for him), and sometimes that comes back to bite him. *sigh*
