As I was watching "Kamikaze Girls" for the first time, I thought to myself-- I've seen this movie before! Not this movie exactly, but something a lot *like* it. But I couldn't figure out what that movie could be, because *nothing* is like Kamikaze Girls.

Then I figured it out... Pictures & mostly non-spoilery summary behind the cut )

I really thought I wouldn't be able to empathize with two characters so completely unlike me, but I did.

Yeah! I watched it for the first time at a New Years' party at someone's house and was just like.... *what* is going on here? Rococco-era France WHAT? Robot butler WHAT? Momoko, what happened to your soul?
But the characters are so fantastic, and I could watch that last scene, the showdown, about a million times in a row without getting tired of it. *G*

You Are For Me the Most Beautiful
I hadn't noticed the similarities between Kamikaze Girls and Fight Club. Kamikaze Girls reminds me more of Amelie, and the tv show Pushing Daisies in tone and crazy connections. I've read the manga, which is a reinterpretation of the movie. The manga is not as frenetically fun, and crazy as the movie. I haven't read the book.

Yay, I'm glad you liked it! And I totally agree, there should be WAY more femslash about it. They literally ride off into the sunset together, I mean what more do you need? :D
