halfamoon is coming to a close at the end of the day. I know that the mod team got a late start this year, and that some people felt rushed for time. How much time do you all need to get prepared for halfamoon? Would promoting the community from the beginning of January be too early

1. I would love to see this promoted all year 'round. I'm relatively new to fandom (just been here less than a year, really, only started writing fic something like six months ago) and had no idea this comm existed. I think it would be great if there were a monthly celebration of women in fandom (is that the right way to say it?). Just knowing about this comm has influenced some of the stories I've been writing.
2. Promoting from the beginning of January would be awesome!
3. I love how low key this is and that there isn't this feeling of needing to do it all. Very welcoming. Thanks!

I do think early promotion is a good idea - especially with the collective fandom hangover that follows all the holiday fest shenanigans, it's good to give folks something to look forward to, and give them a chance to rev up. Wide publicity is also really important - maybe y'all can recruit a few helpers to make sure all the corners of fandom are plastered with halfamoon enthusiasm. (I'm happy to be one of them, when the time comes.) I found this comm through a publicity banner on one of my ladycentric comms (where_no_woman, I think), and might not have found out about it otherwise.
Did I mention that I love it here? I love it here. ♥

You can check in with geekturnedvamp. This community is her baby, and I'm not comfortable making any changes to the comm's basic setup without her input. She might be willing to provide an amnesty period.
