All Pagans Eat Apples II

Oh noes! Another Paganicon post! How could a 2 1/2-day event still be causing this much stuff to spew from my brain? It was just that awesome, I guess.

So. leorathesane and I co-hosted, with two other people, a roundtable discussion on naturalistic/non-deistic Paganism. Yay! It was well-attended! Huzzah! Several attendees did not identify as naturalistic or ( Read more... )

That sounds super-cool, and I wish there were a way for more things like that to happen here. Our Pagan Pride seems, to me, mostly group-oriented, so if there isn't, say, an animist group or a voodoo group or whatever, whole traditions are being left out--which, at an event meant to teach non-Pagans about Paganism, seems like a problem. But the other side of that coin is that PP organizers don't want to let any ol' crackpot in to prostelytize about their version of a tradition, which could be completely crazy. Maybe we need some sort of Angie's List of solitary Pagans: "I've worked with this Pagan, and they're not off their rocker!"

I *promise* that this isn't just a stroke-yer-ego, try-to-make-you-feel-better comment. Cuz, I *would* do that if necessary and appropriate here. But I think you'd prefer sincerity, and I respect you too much to give you less than that ( ... )

I have been noticing lately that when people find the vocation they love, they can't not do it. You can't but want to help people understand and feel better about themselves. Leora can't but make sure that people understand the law and their rights under it. I can't but...um...cover things with red marks.

(Also, thanks! We do appreciate sincerity, and I'm delighted to know that you respect us!)

It was awesome! I learned so much, and I was really glad I came.
We were glad you came, too. We appreciated your questions and your note-taking (I always like when people consider something I'm involved in worth note-taking).

...So I can see how you'd feel on the spot, especially with all the questions we were pelting you guys with, but I didn't get the sense that anyone was speaking for all of you.I'm glad ( ... )
