I'm thinking of taking some video clips of around here to prove I'm neither exaggerating nor making anything up; kind of "A Day in the Life" sort of thing. I figure I'll take two or three minutes of digital video on my camera (of things like Ekk at the forge, swivel gun practice, and how to cook dinner on the woodstove) and put it up on YouTube

The reason I want to take video is that most people don't believe me when I talk about how I live, and the photos don't do it justice. I live on a former hippie commune with no running water. Electricity wasn't put in until this last decade. We didn't even get a working refrigerator till last fall. Ekk (the owner) is a blacksmith and boatbuilder, and I tend the horses and gardens and keep the stoves fed. Ekk's wife works outside the house. Except for electricity and internet, we really aren't too far removed from the historical periods we portray. My friends joke that I'm the only one they know who attends medieval recreation events for the modern conveniences. :)

If you had running water, I think I'd be up for your lifestyle. The 2am trot through the snow to go to the bathroom in the winter is not something I want to deal with outside of an event!
